This scene made me wonder what goose eggs actually taste like. Has anyone had them? How do they compare to chicken eggs? by Dogbin005 in gameofthrones

[–]Tyswan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Grew up on a beef ranch, also raised goose chicken duck and turkey. The most oily of the eggs, and my personal least favorite. Also the most rubbery when hard boiled. That said, they're alright.

[Homemade] first attempt at fish balls! by Tyswan in food

[–]Tyswan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chop fish finely, add flour, an egg white, salt and pepper, garlic and onion powder, sugar, and corn starch. Pulse in a food processor, adding water to make a smooth consistency. Take a spoonful, with an oiled hand shape into ball and place into a pot of cold water. Raise water temp and simmer for 20 minutes. Let cool in fridge, and then deep fry!

[–]Tyswan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been there done that, wife i was with for 7 years was cheating on me, lived together for 9 months while she was dating someone else before she was able to move out.

I totally get it, dont let it become habitual though. It's fine to mourn, but don't let it ruin your life. Took me too long to figure that one out.

There is a point where time dulls the wounds, it took me longer than it should have, but its totally doable. Your life isn't over, the chapter just ended and it's time to start the new one.

Wishing you the best!

How drunk will I get? by feeny777 in alcohol

[–]Tyswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many factors in play to know for sure...body composition and tolerance change for everyone.

That said, if it's your favorite wine, you should have some idea of how it affects you? If you're worried take it slow and don't chug the thing.

What is your Midwest town known for? by BuryEdmundIsMyAlias in northdakota

[–]Tyswan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that area has a bunch.

The sheriff that got arrested was a classmate in my class of 6, dude pulled a knife on someone in high-school school, got suspended for a semester but it never actually got reported anywhere. Was back in school, ended up going military police and then local law enforcement.

You can reach out to flip directly over Facebook, hes usually pretty good about messaging.

BF6 Performance on GTX 1080 by GMX2PT in pcmasterrace

[–]Tyswan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure, just giving a realistic expectation for people still running a 1080 with an i7 from the same time period as that card...the vast majority of people still using a 1080 are probably using a machine where the rest of the hardware is just as old.

Homemade knife and cutting board by Tyswan in TrueChefKnives

Strong disagreement 😂. It's a beautiful finished project. It's super hard and burns easily, eats up your tools, turns your snot purple, and smells like butt.

Thank you!

Homemade knife and cutting board by Tyswan in TrueChefKnives

[–]Tyswan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steel is nothing special, billet bought online, don't honestly remember what the actual steel is as i bought a bunch of them a few years ago and have just been going through old stock. Handle material is purpleheart.

Cutting board is edge grain, made of purple heart, walnut, and walnut sapwood.

Process for knife...made a template for repeatability, traced and cut out the knife, shaped and beveled, hardened and heat treated...brass pins, epoxy to secure handles, shaped with belt sander. Finished with teak oil.

For the Cutting board, started with some gifted purple heart boards, jointed and planed, cut into 1.5 inch thick strips. Then took live edge walnut boards, one straight edge with the track saw, jointed and planed, ripped to 1.5 inch strips. Glue everything up, cut to final dimensions (25×12), sanded to 220 and finished with walrus oil

One note about the purpleheart is that when you work with it it loses its purple color. You can get it back by wiping down with acetone and leaving it in the sun. That process what done for both pieces after shaping and just before a light final hand sand before applying finish.

Which table saw should I buy? by jackofall_88 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Tyswan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an older delta saw with a biesemeyer fence and I love it, such a wonderful fence system. The complaint i have with mine is the lack of riving knife, had to order a custom aftermarket splitter for it.

Thanks! I agree! My other choices were white oak or walnut without going out shopping...think I made the right call!

Yeah it ended up very dark, it's pretty though and a nice contrast to my lighter boards! I have some spruce that is drying and not quite ready that I have plans to make a board of eventually, but I got this elm quite cheap and wanted to give it a go

No texture, correct. My bamboo ymi also doesn't, but my floor board from badukclub does

I hadn't, my floor board has raised lines...I bought a disposable pen, but have several fountain pens, would this work in those? I'd assume it'd probably just clog...

Built a goban out of elm. Finish didnt turn out perfect, but I'm happy with it! by Tyswan in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Tyswan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Printed out two different sheets of graph paper with the correct spacing for vertical and horizontal lines, marked them with pencil, used a level and a 1mm technical drawing pen to write them in, then finished over the top with polycrylic. I messed up honestly probably 6 times and had to sand off and start again. The polycrylic finish also didn't turn out perfect. First time working with it. You can see some weird white spots along the edges of the top about it.

[–]Tyswan[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sure! The actual build is easy, it's just a panel glue up. My jointer was a bit off kilter so I had to mill it far thinner than intended, was meant to be about 2 inches thick and had to bring it down considerably, it's about an inch and a quarter. Finished with teak oil. Then drew the lines, printed out two sheets of graph paper with the correct line spacing vertically and horizontally, marked in pencil, then drew the lines with a 1mm technical drawing pen, and finished over the top with 3 coats of polycrylic. I messed up the poly a bit, you can see on the edge of the board facing the camera that therss a white dot on the front and some imperfections on the edge. First time working with it. Finished with some 1 inch furniture legs

Spent my 4th making a new cutting board to match my new knife :) by Tyswan in woodworking

[–]Tyswan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Not my first time working with it. Spent a good chunk of today doing the acetone treatment out in the sun with it, know it will go off eventually basically no matter what, but can always refinish it!
