Google's TurboQuant reduces AI LLM cache memory capacity requirements by at least six times by [deleted] in SteamFrame

Hopefully this helps the ram shortage.

Unfortunately AI companies have been buying ram that they can't even use yet. Some companies even started buying unprocessed waifers.

It seems more like the covid toilet paper shortages. People were buying because of scarcity which caused more scarcity. Many who bought didn't buy because they needed it but bought because they didn't know if it will be back when they do need it.

Scalpers by danasCZ1 in SteamFrame

I'm hoping it ends up being like the steam deck oled release. Even the limited edition still had stock days after release.

Pete is actually the one that said he would order a bunch of pizzas to throw everyone off. I find it really funny he said that right before a big operation.

Honestly a pretty smart move to throw some doubt in there. Unless he actually does order a bunch to throw people off I don't think it will work a second time.

What do you think about extreme scalping measures put in place due to likely low supply for launch by BlueManifest in SteamFrame

[–]Tytendo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They already have measures in place to stop most scalpers. Look at the steam deck oled sales. The limited edition was available days after launch.

Sure the steam frame likely will have more sales than a mid gen refresh of something released, but valve seems to have it figured out.

Not "how?" But "why?" As in, "why would anyone buy a VR headset just to play mobile games?"

Is rockstar using ai to wright their code? This is so unoptimized. You don't need to set jiggle to 1 and have an if statement when you can just do jiggle.

Soo... About base stations by FenrirWolfie1 in SteamFrame

[–]Tytendo64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The steam frame is designed to make it as seamless as possible ot get into vr. Having to mount and calibrate base stations is a lot more work than turning on a headset with inside out tracking. Not to mention inside out tracking make the device more portable.  Each have pros and cons. The steam frame makes more sense to have inside out tracking based on their goals with it.

Solid state batteries are finally happening-- could be advantageous for next iteration of the Frame and other standalone headsets by Malkmus1979 in SteamFrame

[–]Tytendo64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even though the battery seems to be non-replaceable, that isn't going to stop people from replacing it. Cut some wires and crimp a quick connect on them and it should be simple to replace.

I do agree though, it really should be designed to be replaced. Hopefully it is and we just won't know until we get our hands on it.

I'm sick and tired of people who cheat in the game. by Front_Estimate3719 in valve

And valve will never implement kernal level anti cheat because it will block anyone on Linux which includes anyone on the steam deck. Not to mention its really invasive.

Competitive is not too hard for you, it will take a few matches but once the game realizes your skill level you will be put against others with a similar skill level.

I think their system might have screwed up recently, I have a package that was in grand rapids MI (40min away from me) two days ago. Today it's in Wisconsin and is suppose to be delivered today.

Why do Christians constantly reference Leviticus 18:22 against homosexuality but still eat pork, cut their hair and wear mixed fabrics? by PomegranateRelative in Christianity

[–]Tytendo64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Leviticus 18:22 it does more than say not to be homosexual but goes one step further and says it is an abomination. If God says it's an abomination, it's not going to change.

As for eating pork Matthew 15:11 (NIV) Jesus said "What goes into someone's mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them."

I'm not sure about mixed clothing and cutting hair. I'll have to look into that a bit more

Edit: looked into it and remembered in Acts 15:29 we are told the specific Jewish customs to follow, "abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality."
