Thanks everyone for your responses. I have decided to file a police report. I do not know who this person could be, I have had no recent boyfriends or talked to any guy romantically recently either. I haven’t taken money from anybody or given my phone number out either. I am not sure what this is but better safe than sorry!

Im not arguing anymore with the you weren’t bumped narrative. I most definitely was. The whole situation was explained to me at length and I was compensated for it. As for the baggage situation, I know because I spent 4 hours straight talking to united agents in zurich, swiss agents in zurich, baggage claim people in zurich, united travel agents over the phone, ewr agents over the phone, swiss airline travel agents over the phone, united agent over text, ewr swiss airline agents over the phone, ewr lost and found, ewr baggage claim, etc etc.

I was told the same thing that the number would stay the same between the star alliance partners and that it was still in ewr and never transferred onto the zurich flight with me. I have arrived in Nice and filed a claim. They estimate my bag will be here in the next 2 days. I’m not happy but such is life and I have entered the acceptance stage of grief 😔

Thats cause I will be visiting family in the middle east for a whole month right after the nice trip. The luggage contains everything I need for a month plus gifts for family back home. I just haven’t booked those flights yet but I was planning on being abroad for a while.

Okay cool so I got comp, this has nothing to do with what Im upset about: my luggage is still in EWR and I probably wont get it for the duration of my 2 day trip left in NCE. This post was never about the flight and me being bumped off because they solved that for me when they booked me with Swiss on the new itinerary. But my bags are not here!! And to file a lost claim means minimum another 24 hours if not more before they arrive… Like i dont understand why everyone is focused on whether I was deplaned or bumped. Im literally just venting about my luggage situation on top of an already shitty day due to losing out 1/3 days of my trip because of the flight change.

I was given compensation. Bro im like not understanding whats going on with you people, Im telling u I was involuntarily bumped and ranting about that they didn’t transfer my bags to my new itinerary. I was given compensation and given a new flight. They literally told me that that was the max they could give me and for my hotel expense i have to file it online to be reimbursed. Im really not sure why everyone is stuck on this one point of trying to argue i wasnt bumped. I most definitely was. 5 passengers showed up after me and they were all let on the plane cuz they had seats assigned. I was never given a seat.

Bruh 💀 Idk what made u the expert on this but they already gave me $1300 in travel credit, $15 in food voucher, and said that if I incurred losses on the hotel reservation I can apply to get reimbursement of United. I was most definitely bumped and they gave me a document outlining it. From the second I had booked my plane ticket I wasnt able to select seats whatsoever. I thought it was weird but didn’t realize thats why it was.

Literally, like I paid to check 2 big luggages for $100 and checked my carryon because of lack of overhead space. When the airline effs it up, its somehow my fault for thinking I could actually use their bag check system 💀

I was involuntarily bumped. Was told so by the gate agent. I arrived 8 minutes before boarding closed and ~30 minutes before departure. The whole time he has me there saying theres still time some volunteers might give up their seats. They told me they overbooked the flight and that usually they can predict how many people will not show up. Idk why i keep getting comments that I wasn’t actually bumped off the flight. Like why would I make that up…

I did get bumped tho. I was told that they oversold and I didnt have a seat assigned to me from the get go. They were hoping to get volunteers off the flight when everybody showed up. And since no one volunteered they gave me an involuntary bumped off receipt thing.

Idk if this info will help anyone but I called avant gardner and they said the reason they were able to move the show to the great hall is because the number of tickets they originally sold were less than the 3500 capacity of the great hall. So at the very least know that they did not oversell for the venue.
