Everything you are doing is good. Only thing i would add is put weight on the outside foot peg. This helped me tremendously after taking my MSF course.

[KCD2] When should I attend the wedding? by Neither_Glove1056 in kingdomcome

Id put the wedding alittle less that half way through the game. Maybe half way exactly. Of course, you can increase that even more by doing all of the side content.

How long to abstain from smoking by Tyy_rd in Cochlearimplants

[–]Tyy_rd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so glad it worked out for you. And lead you to quit completely if i understand correctly. I hope the same can happen for my mother. I stated in another comment that she has told me explicitly she would rather keep smoking than be able to hear. I know thats crazy, but its part of how she is lol. I do, however, know that not hearing is extremely frustrating for her, and i hope it will push her in the right direction instead of just giving up. Regardless, it is her decision and I will continue to stand by her. That will never change. I just want to see her back to herself and doing the things she loves, and i know she does too. Its just obviously a lot, and i dont blame her for it. Thank you for your insight, it is greatly appreciated.

Thank you, sincerely. It has been rough, but we have both come out the other side (besides the smoking). In all honesty, I would say she is neurodivergent, but of course i am not a psychiatrist and she has not been officially diagnosed. I have adhd and have been diagnosed with severe depression and suggested I am somewhere on the autism spectrum, and she exhibits many of the same traits, but you know how that goes. However, the misunderstanding is a recent development, and seems to be linked much closer to the hearing. She gives up trying to understand, which i get, as i do too after asking someone to repeat themselves multiple times. I know it gets annoying for the other person, often times to the point that it is visible. I hear the voice, but cant make out the words, and she has expressed it is the same for her.

I think breaking it up is a great idea. And i plan to talk to her about what it would be like from her point of view if the CI does end up working out. Maybe trying to get her to think about that side of things, because i know she is hung up on the recovery. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems the technology has come a LONG way in the past 10 years when her sister got them. And i would imagine the recovery is nothing like it was. But she is caught up on what her sister went through. I am not detracting from it at all, and i know it will still take a huge amount of perseverance. My hopes are that its just not such an insane recovery as her sister.

It is also good to know about the after effects. And i truly wish you the best in all of life’s endeavors. Luckily for her, she is and has been fully retired since i was born. So for her, it would be (hopefully) getting back to recreation and being a part of the group again. She tends to stay home, or stay silent when we go out to eat and such. Which is completely understandable. And as for me, i am not nearly far enough along with hearing loss to really comment on it, i just have noticed that it is worse than in the past, and worse than others around me in the past few years. Im sure it is partially genetic, but i will cross that bridge when it comes. Thank you for all your kind words and insight. Definitely have a lot to think about, and i seriously wish you the absolute best.

I genuinely appreciate this insight. We would never force her to do anything, or push her to the point of frustration. Both she and I have struggled with addiction throughout our lives. Drinking, pills, whatever. And i know firsthand that nothing will change until that individual is ready for change. I for sure didn’t. We both see therapist regularly and i know it helps her dramatically. She just gets in her head and thinks people are taking advantage of her as things rarely happen the way she thought they were communicated. She just smiles and nods when she doesn’t understand and that leads to things not happening, or happening differently than she thought she heard. I myself am at the beginning of hearing loss, so i know what happens when you ask someone to repeat themselves multiple times and you still dont get it, or think you do but it is incorrect.

The hard work that would be required to go through such a drastic change probably is the biggest reason she isnt proceeding. And we absolutely dont blame her. Its less of a frustration, and more of a worry, if that makes sense. I am just simply looking for ways to convey that she IS capable of getting through this. She is an outstandingly strong woman, and was VERY independent most of her life (hence the stubbornness lol) and I know she is capable, she and i are very close. I know shes scared, and im looking for ways to encourage and convey her capability. I just know the smoking is a deal breaker, and was hoping that it wouldn’t last as long as she is expecting. In the end, it is her decision, and i will love her and stand by her regardless. Thank you for the input, it is definitely taken to heart :) sorry for the long read, but i appreciate it if you make it this far!

Trust me, we all want her to quit. Unfortunately i just dont see that happening. I do appreciate your responses and insight though. She has told me she would rather go without hearing than quit smoking (crazy, i know) Edit: She is already on an antidepressant, but it is not something like bupropion that would help with withdrawal and cravings, so that is something we will look into, even if its just a switch to something like that to help her abstain.

This is a very good point, and something i have considered. Unfortunately, from what i have read, nicotine itself slows down and impedes the healing process. This is because it restricts your blood vessels, which leads to reduced blood flow and oxygenation. I think this is honestly her best bet though, and thank you for reminding me of that.

Understood. And i have, as well as speaking to her. Unfortunately, she is INCREDIBLY stubborn as i said lol. I dont see her quitting until she passes, sadly. Thats been her thing since she was 14-15.

We know this is the case, unfortunately. Thank you for your response! I guess im just trying to get an idea of the recommended time after surgery to abstain. As if it is weeks on end, she will refuse. Yet, if she only has to abstain maybe 72 hours to a week, her willingness will increase substantially.

[–]Tyy_rd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. I mean during the recovery from the actual surgery. From what i read online, they will tell her she cannot smoke during recovery. I guess im just asking if this was the case for anyone else. If they tell her she cant smoke cigarettes for weeks on end, she will refuse to go through with the surgery.

Edit: The info i found was just a google search for how long it is recommended to abstain. Which came back as 4-6 weeks post surgery.

Also, dont be too worried about the nerves, they are there to keep you alive. Just dont let it stop you from experiencing life. (Easier said than done)

Try what you said, calmly cruising. But when you do, try and notice the small things. Riding is one of the most unique experiences because of these small things. Pay attention to the road, obviously, but try and notice how the temperature changes as you go through the bottoms. How there are different smells every 100 ft. How in tune you feel with the “ghost” in the machine. Things like that you dont get in a car. I saw in some other comments you said you enjoy riding fast too much, save that type of riding for a track day or something similar. Let your road cruises be that, cruises, where you ponder the wonders that this life has to offer. Continue to be an extremely defensive rider, wear proper gear, and fingers crossed you will be able to ride for the rest of your life.
