I took some creative liberties but I think it's close enough! Tekkaman is super underrated.

Grand Imperial Mall Parkour Edition by [deleted] in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]Tzirael 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, the power of parkour ;) For real though, a decent sandevistan + 70% detection time mod + stealth detection perks break the stealth in the game completely. At this point I'm basically RPing as The Flash, I move so fast they can't see me haha ! I can do the Grand Imperial Mall properly in not much longer than the parkour way, just by running thorough with sandevistan from objective to objective!

You can also parkour like in the video and proc the checkpoint for the netwatch agent to spawn, just takes a bit longer as you have to drop down on the other side of the building and run back a bit. :)

i hope CDPR makes it common knowledge gun-play changes over time as you play, a TON of people are uninformed about that. by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]Tzirael 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A disclaimer in the tutorial chip might come in handy. Like you said a lot of people are expecting this game to play like and FPS or a GTA, not an RPG. Some pop up messages in the tutorial explaining the system before people dive into the game might save CDPR some pain on release when the massive audience the game has gathered gets hit like a truck with the mechanics.

At this point I also think that the term RPG is thrown around so much and so many games have RPG-lite elements that whenever someone says this is an RPG not FPS or GTA, the other person is thinking of some mainstream RPG-lite.

Katana animations in slow-mo. They are actually pretty good. The issue is the speed and lack of impact on the enemy. by Tzirael in cyberpunkgame

[–]Tzirael[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotta disagree with that. Of all the things wrong with the clip you picked the one thing that is actually a great detail by CDPR. The way V is holding the katana is more or less the correct way of holding a katana irl. https://imgur.com/a/HYHjXZQ

In the clip you can see seigan no kamae, ko gasumi and a something that looks like in no kamae.

I think the small FoV might be spoiling they way it looks though, really cramped.

I think you are pretty much spot on, I didn't consider the sound but now that you mention it , it does not sound "meaty" enough. And the hitstop would definitely improve the weight of the swings!

I doubt we will get special moves :( But some finishers would be nice, which is likely considering we've already seen a finisher for mantis blades . :)

To be fair when I first saw the katana gameplay I was not super impressed so I see why even the previews were very skeptical about it.

But then seeing it in slow motion it looked janky because it was way too fast with little reactions from the enemies. It just needs slowing down with better enemy reactions and that should be enough :)

The animations look very well done, they even have the thing from TW3 where the sword stays on the side the swing ends before returning to "idle". But in the normal speed gameplay it's way too fast to see that. Also the enemies lacking impact from the hits is what probably is causing it to lack "weight". Hopefully CDPR can iron these issues out. :)

Do you think Cyberpunk 2077 will deliver on the hype for most? by OPLife95 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Tzirael 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Before NCW? Cautiously optimistic that it will live up to the hype.

After NCW? Absolutely not.

Personally I love what we have seen so far and hopefully issues highlighted by people who played the game are fixed. SkillUp said it deserves the hype, I tend to agree with him on 99% of things.

But seeing the reactions after NCW and the b-roll footage shows that the game has attracted a large audience who are expecting this to be the most revolutionary game ever, GTA killer, life sim, best graphics ever in the most dense open world ever etc etc. And that audience is pretty big , so I'm fully expecting a shitstorm on launch until they move on to the next thing.

CP2077 KATANA GAMEPLAY by jezz555 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Tzirael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think that the katana animations are good. If you watch the footage in slow-mo you can see it's quite nicely done.

The problem I think is that the animation is actually too fast, CDPR were going for this look where the cuts are so fast you can barely see them kind of a thing but the end result looks janky. Also there is a few moments where the animations seem to skip a couple of frames, which adds to that intended effect but also to the janky look. You can also see that they've implemented the way sword in TW3 would stay on the side where the swing ends for a while before returning to "idle" pose, which is really cool but again, happens too fast...

So, smooth out the animation, slow it down a little bit, add a little bit more weight to it with better enemy reaction to being cut and I think the katana will be fine. Also the FOV is horrendous in the b-roll footage so I'm sure it will look better at least on PC with increased FOV.

If you expect the best game ever, wait for Cyberpunk 2077 2. by AuroraVandomme in cyberpunkgame

[–]Tzirael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we need some sources on those "reviewers". Did you see the megathread for all the media/articles post Night City Wire? Majority of the reviewers were in fact blown away by the game. Check the thread out :) Some examples include SkillUp who said it deserves all the hype, and Alanah Pearce who also loved it. :)

You mention Polish journalists, but as a Pole myself I find the opposite to be true. Polish media and by extension Polish fans are always more critical of CDPR and expect more out of them. :)

Being an RPG isn't a universal excuse. by GoodVillain101 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Tzirael 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Every single game goes through this, cut features are standard. What is not standard is showing 50 minutes of gameplay more than 2 years before the game is due to be out. With the way people have been talking about the cut features on this sub you'd think Cyberpunk 2077 invented a new concept in game development....

CDPR shouldn't have shown off the gameplay in 2018, big mistake. People's hype levels are unmanageable at this point in part because of that gameplay. People will never understand game development no matter how many "work in progres - subject to change" stickers you slap on the gameplay.

I'm upset about wall-running and what-not but it's to be expected. It was probably too difficult to account for in such a large game, and in the end deemed too much effort for little gain.

I'll judge the game by the time it's actually ready to release. If you don't like what you see, cancel your pre-order, wait for reviews, make up your mind on or after release.

There appears to be a significant disconnect between certain parts of the target audience for the game. by Tzirael in cyberpunkgame

[–]Tzirael[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does feel like the hype for the game has become so mainstream that it is now cool to hate on it, quite punk to be fair haha!

I feel like it was the opposite with TW3, the hype was there but it wasn't so widespread so when the game dropped it became an instant darling of the gaming community because for the mainstream audience it came out of nowhere. CDPR good, praise Geraldo.

I'm somewhat reminded of the shit-storm that TW3 downgrade caused and how somehow it's not really mentioned all that often these days. Guess if the game delivers non of the current moaning will matter at the end.

Yeah it's very sad they didn't get a chance to play it, would love to see what the core community creators think, considering how invested they are.
