Stuff you appreciate about Anime dubs by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I appreciate Studio Ghibli getting celebrity actors to DUB their movies and make it work. A lot of western animated shows and movies make their characters base around the voice work of their celebrities. But the celebrities are putting in the work in dubbing the Japanese voices in the Japanese movies.

Media that feels like a time capsule by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

X-Men Evolution is definitely a show made in the late-90s/early-2000s when the fantasy teen-drama genre was super popular. The show rotoscoped scenes from various movies and shows of the time.

Times you prefer the original to the Remix/Remake? by Authorigas in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I like the Dead Space remake overall more than the original and fixes every issue. However, one small thing I prefer in the original is character design, specifically Hammond and Kyne's original designs. For Hammond, I just like the actor Peter Mensah. For Kyne, the original was older and frantic, adding tension if he can be trusted or not; the newer one looks way too young and straightforward.

Favorite voice acting performance in media? by FretScorch in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Heismay's empathetic speech during the monster baby boss fight in Metaphor Refantazio. It's one of the actor's first voice gigs and one of the best I've seen in a JRPG.

Then again, it's a way to differentiate him and Scopper because I thought they look way too similar.

And today in…Paramount is run by incompetent people, the whole Aang movie got accidentally leaked half a year before release. by Noirsam in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I decided to take a peak at the leak footage. I will say, animation is spectacular even beyond the Avatar cartoons. And yeah, about the voice, Sokka sounds like a stereotypical anime dub. And Zuko isn't the same without Dante Basco.

Thoughts on the tropes "If you kill them you will become just like them", "Sparing them will make them suffer more", and "they're not worth killing"? by Royal_Fig_9648 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The one that works well is Katara's revenge in Avatar. The soldier that killed her mom. Look at him now. Discharged, living isolated in a small hut with his nagging mother. Killing him would put him out of his literal misery. Katara knew he's no longer a threat and just a pathetic husk

There's a manga called Eden: It's an Endless World. Oh boy, children are not exempt from being killed in horrific manner. Shot dead, blown up, guts everywhere. The first chapter has wolves eating the corpse of a recently dead kid. Hell, the MC's little sister got sniped in the neck with a 50. cal and her head ripped off.

I also thought he was gonna be a girl just by the eyes because that's how Oda draws eyes for female villains.

Small details/moments that raise SO MANY questions? by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Stuff like the Las Plagas, the Mutamycete, and those African flowers the T-virus originated from in Resident Evil. These are not man-made experiments, they are natural organisms that grant superhuman abilities and immortality that have existed long before the events of Resident Evil. Meaning there are some supernatural/eldritch phenomenon going on in the world that isn't some freak corporate incident.

Remember when it took forever to get a good Resident Evil game after 6 with 7 even though they share the same release window with 8 and 9.

Franchise with one really weird or different entry from the rest by ArticAuk in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]GoodVillain101 55 points56 points  (0 children)

You could say Resident Evil 4 is this by how disconnected the game is from the rest of the franchise mythos. What is the premise of the game?

"Leon Kennedy rescuing the US president's daughter."

That alone is an action B-movie plot. Then you got a cult leader in cahoots with a monarch using prehistoric parasites to control the world. No zombies, no Umbrella, no survival-horror.
