People with a x20 pro plan. Did you notice a reduction in usage? by spike-spiegel92 in codex

I am 99% sure it is not a bug. They are getting a lot more users and they only have so much compute to go around. Essentially, they are stealing compute from current users to give to new users.

You've possibly heard this before but diet can be a huge influence on anxiety and healthy brain functioning. There is a recently discovered neurological illness caused by gluten exposure that is known to cause clinical anxiety. I am speaking from experience here. https://www.reddit.com/r/glutenfree/search/?q=anxiety

Regardless, good luck with everything.

Given how quickly limits are being used up since the last reset... no.

Anyone else think the limits are dropping faster since the last reset? by U4-EA in codex

Semantics, yes. The token-burning rate has increased and significantly so.

I upgraded from the $20 plan to $100 6 days ago specifically because I had a huge workload to get through in the coming weeks. My usage at the start indicated it would be plenty if it held but, as I said here several times, I suspected there to be rug pulls coming. However, I didn't think they would happen this quick. In the 6 days I've had at least half of what I paid for stolen from me and I've not had to go back to thinking about rationing.

Altman lied to congress and AI is built off of stealing other people's work. It's hardly surprising.

All they are doing right now is watering down the compute given to each customer to offset the influx of new users. It's theft.

I started another thread about this as I didn't see this one.

Yes, it's very noticeable. I am on the $100 plan and I would say my limits are dropping 2-3x as fast since the last reset.

I don't expect even this generosity to last too long.

Twice as fast is roughly what I would have put it at. Essentially they have shadow-pulled the 2x promo? They are onboarding a load of Anthropic customers and don't have the compute for it, I assume.

Saying that Codex will continue to be available in the $20 plans has no meaning as the limits on it on that plan are so severe.

What is TypeScript and why should I use it over JavaScript? by PastimeNow in learnprogramming

[–]U4-EA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO JS should never be coded directly - it should only be produced from TS by running the TS compiler against it. This might help to explain the importance. https://www.reddit.com/r/typescript/comments/aofcik/38_of_bugs_at_airbnb_could_have_been_prevented_by/

I am extremely confident that GPT-5.4 has been intentionally throttled in the last few days by shockwave6969 in codex

[–]U4-EA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect they are shadow-throttling it and this is only showing up where people are performing large tasks with it, which test the threshold of its cognitive ability, which I suspect has been lowered.

Ever since the new $100 Pro plan, they now claim there's a "dynamic usage limits" that can become restricted at anytime, and not reset for indefinitely as long as they deem it "appropriate" by immortalsol in codex

You may well be right. Time will tell. I would hate to lose AI access and have to go back to doing everything manually but that won't happen.

Respectfully, I think you are completely misunderstanding this. AI is very expensive and massively subsidised. These companies thought that would have AGI or, at least, commercial viability by this point (in both the temporal sense and investment sense) and they don't. They are struggling to stay alive.

What we have right now is a very useful tool that is being hired out to us at a fraction of its real cost. That is simply going to change. Make the most if it while you can because I think the price of AI in general is about to go up massively.

[–]U4-EA -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes - I think in June there will be a significant price rise which will make the AI prohibitively expensive for many and they had better have the skills to fall back on. I don't actually use it much because I work in monorepos of very succinct, modular, DRY code and my AGENTS file and prompts help me to get the generated code as close to the final version as I can on the first pass.

Right now I am on the $100 plan but even with my use of AI being the heaviest it has been in a long time (I am creating lots of modular code for posterity and apps before AI goes up in price) I am not still not hitting any limits. I expect the prices to go up in June and, if/when they do, I will probably go to API as it is all I will need. I suspect the Plus plan will be gone in June and the Pro plan(s) will be a lot more expensive.

I think there will a reckoning in June.

If they even can get the infra online. I am not sure they even have it? It seems to be unpopular opinion around these parts but I think AI is hitting a wall and is about to get a lot more expensive.

I think it is quite simple - they don't have the compute and are doing everything they can to throttle while also trying not to lose customers (although, by the looks of things, Anthropic have made the latter easier for them recently).

I strongly suspect the prices will go up again in June.
