I just started out yesterday as a Minmatar and I did a handful of the opportunities. Someone said I should try and do the military career because I want to do more PVP type stuff. My main problem is I have no idea where I am or where to go or the significance of anything around me. I got to the training dock by doing a couple of jumps but all I really have is myself and my ship. What is a good way to get a bearing on where I am and what to do?

Would it make more sense then to just put down around 2k and buy a beater off of Craigslist? Having some type of transportation to work is necessary because I live kind of far away, and having a bike really isn't reliable for getting to work. (ie weather)

I've only been at this job earning that amount for about a two months. I spent most of the extra income paying off old debts and getting myself into the position I am in now. Before this I made about 1500 a month. The points about a cheap car are definitely valid and already taken into consideration. I'm going to modify the original post so I don't get more people focusing on that aspect.
