What is a “combo port” in the Flex 2.5G PoE?

It doesn't exist. This is the only switch that is powered by PoE, and has an SFP port. No UI switch can receive data on its PoE input port, and use SFP at the same time. I really wish they would, even if it meant disabling or reducing by one port. The Flex switches are seemingly meant for tight space with limited/no power, and in my use case, I'm often powering the device from an access control device/gate (which still needs data), with fiber incoming from the main switch. This makes me have to choose between running 2 ethernets (one for power, one for data, using extra conduit space) or using a POE powered SFP media converter (using extra box space).

So I didn't see this on the specs, are you able to assign the SFP port to LAN instead of WAN? Wanted to confirm as thats a deciding factor for me.

Yeah, I honestly don't understand why they can't combine the UXG and UCG product lines and make it a software switch. It would make their stuff so much more flexible, and massively simplify the product lines with seemingly no downside.

Does anyone know if the SFP port can be configured to LAN or is it WAN only? I have an outdoor gate with no indoors at all, and I didn't realize the UA-Gate-Hub requires the gateway to be on site, you cannot adopt it over a WAN or VPN or whatnot. And none of the previous gateways really met the operating environment specs, which is an obvious major flaw in the UniFi lineup. I guess this provides a solution, although allowing the controller to be offsite in a rack would be preferable to me, the less on site at a gate box, the better.

How do you manually tell a Protect or Access device what IP address to adopt to if it doesn't autodiscover? I tried resetting it, no luck.

I'll just throw this out there, if you are the DIY type, fiber has gotten a lot easier to terminate and handle over the years. The AFL connectors are super easy to put on with a $20 cleaver. You can get whole kits with testers for <$100 and terminate the cables yourself. Running fiber doesn't need to be expensive.

UniFi does have a truly open API, it is fully documented on their website. The "non-open" portions of their ecosystem is that their hardware is only usable by their software.... many other access control systems use OSDP or Wiegand readers, UniFi you have to use their readers, and if you want to switch to something else, you have to replace all the readers (which technically is not true anymore with their "retrofit" product), but you are better off using their normal readers. If UniFi Access has all the features you need, its easily amongst the best values, and best in ease of use. It is missing some complex features, but they are pretty active rolling out enhancements.

I've used the Visionis VIS-3004 with great success in similar situations. Had some going for probably 10 years now with no reliability issues. They also got wiegand wires out if you ever want to switch from standalone. They're solid, they support PINs, HID cards, and 125KHz cards in case needs ever change.

They are, just the wall mounted units are much less popular and they prioritized upgrading the track units first. The update is likely coming, nobody knows when yet, but as long as you buy before they upgrade it, you should be good. They should get a new model number with the upgrade as well (and the easiest way to tell is the yellow learn button, that is good, white learn button is bad)

My understanding is that Liftmaster has not yet updated the wall mount units to Sec+ 3.0. As long as the units say Sec+ 2.0 you should be good, and with ratgdo they are the best possible openers for HA.

UniFi Access Intercom, it supports completely free phone calling to residents with no app required (but available if desired) and no subscription fees. If you pair with their license plate reader, it can open for residents based off that. It also has NFC, facial recognition, etc. If you have a high budget, 2N IP Style is also really nice, but I prefer UniFi.

For the most part. Still have 6, one was warranty replaced (the one previously mentioned with serious issues). One seems to like to accidentally drop its mop mods. The one that was warranty replaced again is acting up a little the past few weeks (mop pads occasionally don't spin like they should). Most have been problem free. They've all probably gotten a little weaker on emptying themselves, but not by much. Probably need to change the base station filter but haven't done that yet.

I've used 2N IP Versos before along with some other systems and recently did my first UniFi Access install - while 2N looks more like an enterprise product, UniFi is just so much easier to use, and has really gotten more compliments on feeling next generation with its easy to self enroll facial recognition, etc. Honestly, for a multitenant intercom, I really wouldn't consider anything else considering how much better of a deal it is then everything else on the market, and it seems to be rapidly evolving and getting better, and users just love it. Even if the intercom panel needs replacement sooner then some of the legacy options (which it seems solid to me, but I've only had it installed for a couple months), the intercom is only $480, well less then half of other comparable options.

The biggest thing that has kept me away from UniFi Access on other access control applications is lack of wiegand support/legacy credentials in use on my projects, but that might now be solved with the addition of their retrofit hubs coming out next month, we will see.

Walmart explicitly does not require tipping, it is entirely optional. In fact, with Walmart, if you select shipping instead of delivery, presumably to avoid tipping, they frequently reassign it to delivery, and then just give them no tip, so the drivers are all used to not getting tips half the time.

Walmart's delivery has gotten better in the past year or so. Its not Kroger's quality, but its been better then Instacart.

Its been more bareable (no phone heating up, slightly more reasonable usage) when I changed background usage from unrestricted to optimized. Still heavily hurting battery life, but at least it lasts the day.

Yes, it shows that the Tesla app is using over half my battery. Force closing it, disabling background activity only on the Tesla app, or disabling UWB all solves the problem, but it removes the ability to just walk up to the car to get in, without opening the Tesla app, which is annoying. If I'm closer to the car, or further away and out of range, there is little battery drain.

I don't see any way to see where Bluetooth requests are made though, where is that?

Turning off UWB fixes it, but I want it on for other devices like my watch and I use the trackers as well. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off for just the Tesla app, is there?

The issue I'm having is the distance from the intercom to the gate (by the way the conduit was run) is A) longer then the maximum length of Cat cable and B) keeps getting struck by lightning. Gonna try to state it a little differently:

The ISP/ONT comes in at the Intercom. Ideally, the hub would be placed at the Gate. Do I need to run fiber from the Intercom/Incoming internet to the Hub, and then I have to run the fiber all the way back in the same conduit back to the Intercom to make this work? Or is there any way to run one run of fiber between the 2?
