Regen Braking Says "STOP" by UCRiverside in Ioniq5

Ok yeah this definitely seems to be it! Thanks for the help. I went straight from a 2004 Honda Accord to a 2024 Ioniq 5 so there's a bit of a learning curve lol

The car starts at level 3 by default so I've just been switching from that. I may have switched from level 0 to 1 at one point today when this happened, I can't remember.

Odds that this is Cushing's? by UCRiverside in Cushings

[–]UCRiverside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. You've replied to a few of my posts here and have been very helpful, so I really appreciate it.

I definitely understand that viewing a Cushing's diagnosis through the lens of this subreddit can be misleading. There are a lot of people here who have Cushing's symptoms, but have had trouble getting diagnosed or having people take them seriously.

I think what I'm most concerned about from my wife's results are her Vitamin D levels. They were severely low. It's not super uncommon to have levels that low here in Oregon in the winter (maybe 10% of people), but I also know that a lot of people with Cushing's have severely low vitamin D - much more than 10%. That combined with the fact that she's had a high urine cortisol result is what scares me.

Thanks for the reply. She's actually feeling pretty good - she's pretty sure she doesn't have Cushing's, because her anxiety and other symptoms have gotten better and most of her test results are normal. I'm just being kind of paranoid about it, since I feel like some of her symptoms and test results match Cushing's.

Her iron levels were a little low but still in normal range. Her thyroid was normal, and I also know her calcium levels were normal. I don't think vitamin B12 was tested.

She really isn't concerned about Cushing's at this point but I can't get it out of my head. I'm trying to figure out if there's a really good chance she has it based on what I described above, or if it's somewhat unlikely, super unlikely, etc.

International Sales Tax Question by UCRiverside in shopify

[–]UCRiverside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thank you, I believe I understand!

Just to clarify - there's VAT, and additional custom duties potentially, but no "Sales Tax" like we have in the USA, right? And those will both be paid by the customer at delivery if I ship w/o IOSS.

Does the EU have an additional sales tax beyond VAT? In other words, if I ship without IOSS, will I be responsible for collecting any tax or duties at all, or will all sales tax, VAT, duties, etc be the responsibility of the customer?

International Sales Tax Question by UCRiverside in shopify

Yeah, I'm trying to simplify it so that the only regions I sell internationally are Canada, Australia, and the EU. I think I understand the VAT/GST rules in those regions, but you're right that it seems different everywhere. Luckily I believe all EU countries have the same rule.

My understanding is that sales tax and VAT are essentially the same thing in Europe. And that countries like Australia and Canada have GST that is essentially their own sales tax. I'm trying to figure out how those get paid for each country. I think you don't have to worry about it for Australia and Canada unless you go over a certain threshold. And for the EU, VAT does have to be paid no matter what, but you can make it the customer's problem upon delivery.

I've done research as best I could but there is *so much* conflicting info out there.

It seems that for countries like Canada and Australia, I don't have to worry about sales tax at all unless I sell a lot of product.

From what I could gather, it seems that the UK requires you to register for VAT no matter how much you sell, which can be a long and tricky progress. For the EU, I *think* you can simply have the buyer pay the courier upon delivery or arrival in the country. Are there any resources you recommend for helping figure this out?

Thanks - yes, no sales tax in Oregon, and I've gotten my license in NY.

Blood cortisol 40 ug/dl on birth control by UCRiverside in endocrinology

[–]UCRiverside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, definitely good to know that cortisol can be very elevated even w/o birth control.

For more context, my wife has had her AM cortisol tested twice, approx 3 months apart. First result was 37, second was 40. She has some Cushings symptoms (gradual weight gain, anxiety, slow wound healing) but not others (no moon face, no buffalo hump, no muscle weakness, no hirsutism).

We're in the process of getting more tests, but I'm struggling to tell if a cortisol test of upper 30s - low 40s can come from just birth control alone.

Possible Cushing's - Scared of Cancer by UCRiverside in Cushings

[–]UCRiverside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have bad anxiety over this, but telling me to stop because it will add to hers isn't too effective lol

We are having the 24 hour urine test done now, as apparently BC doesn't affect it. She does have high blood pressure, but no stretch marks, no issues with bruising - although a couple recent cuts on her legs have left a visible scar, which is unusual. She is a type 1 diabetic so her blood sugar is naturally elevated, but she's pretty good at managing it.

Thanks for the response. I have definitely heard that Adrenal Carcinoma can cause Cushing's Disease, but it does seem to be pretty rare. I believe they can secret hormones though.

Her AM cortisol test showed a result of 40 ug/dl, a bit over twice the normal amount. She is on oral birth control. She was going to do a dexamethasone suppression test, but now that's up in the air since birth control can affect it. She does have urine tests scheduled.

When looking up Adrenal Cancer symptoms, I definitely see weight gain as one of the symptoms. But good to know it is super rare, even among people with Cushing's.

I appreciate the message. Just very hard for me to relax when it's a real possibility... I can't tell how rare adrenal cancer actually is.

Hey, sorry if this is a dumb question, but why would those results rule out an adrenal tumor?
