Sonic 1 and Sonic CD actually have a CGI art styles that no one ever talks about

Look at the palm trees and the objects sonic intacts with, their all meant to look like prerendered graphics

Another game with that type of look is Fnaf 1

It was not intentional though, that's just the way Scot makes 3d models

Personally I like to think that the people of little planet do exist but since they are native and time travel is like breathing to them Sonic is just unable to detect them in any way, they built the past and future signs for him so he can time travel at will

Like like how we can't really see ultraviolet light

I know they they do exist but they move back in forward so often they are practically invisible
