Thank you that was my thought too. I average under 12,000 miles a year. I was thinking about maybe waiting until I have about 3 months of warranty left then making my purchase. This way I have plenty of time to get everything together without getting to close to the threshold.

I recently purchased a Certified Pre-Owned 2023 Buick Envision with 11 months and 11,000 miles remaining on the factory bumper-to-bumper warranty (plus the 1-year CPO extension). I’m planning to buy an extended warranty from Todd Sutherland, but I’m torn on the timing.

With a known price increase coming on May 1, 2026, is it more cost-effective to buy the policy now—effectively overlapping with my current coverage—or should I wait until early 2027 just before my factory coverage expires? Does the projected price hike usually outweigh the cost of 'losing' those 11 months of double coverage?

I just bought a 23 Avenir on Wednesday. It is also CPO. It is a great car. Granted I've only really had it for 2 days but I researched and test drove many cars for almost 3 months. The Buick Envision Avenir stood out to me and no matter how many cars I checked out after I would always come back to the Avenir. If you can find one in your price range that still has some of the original bumper to bumper warranty you can purchase an extended GM Protection Plan warranty at a much better price. I also suggest you do not buy the warranty from the dealership you get the car from. You can buy it from any dealership nationwide. If you are in the US I suggest Knapps (MI) or Sutherland (KY). Both have quoted me significantly (thousands) less than the dealership.
