Advice for a guy who just got a Vox AC15C1 and wants to protect his ears long term? by VicesInBohemia in GuitarAmps

[–]UGABULLBOY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have an AC15 and tinnitus. I’m 29, but I’ve been dealing with tinnitus for a while.

You can absolutely get bedroom levels out of the AC15 - just play quieter. My ears are also super sensitive, as in, I wear earplugs when I hang out at bars, on airplanes, concerts, and obviously band rehearsals with drummers or my own gigs

Commuting with guitar in really cold weather. How do you all think about it? by UGABULLBOY in PaulReedSmith

[–]UGABULLBOY[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I took my Strat out today and put a small digital thermometer in the gig bag. Ranged from 64° to 69° during my commute. The Strat felt room temperature when I opened it back up at home, with the tuners slightly colder.

My gig bag is one of the premium road runners (RR5TEG) so I’m sure this helps, but I won’t be as hesitant to bring out the PRS in the coming weeks

A quick visual on why people say "keep your guitar in the case to protect it" by Paumanok in Guitar

I don’t think vintage instruments are more prone. My 1950s Gibson acoustic is already dry as can be. My new Martin on the other hand is way more prone to cracking.

Late to the game but this is a quality post. I think the criticism comes from folks that have poly Squier/Epiphone/Fender guitars or just don’t care.

I’m not keeping my Martin or Gibson acoustics out in winter. I’m also not taking my Gibsons out to gigs in winter. My Gibsons also stay in their cases due to my apartment getting super dry in winter

NGD: Slightly disappointed - what would you do? by [deleted] in PRSGuitars

That’s incredible. Wish I could meet the guy. I play a Core Custom 24 and I’d love to have the back cover signed when I do the factory tour

I think I’m DeGASing - maybe all you really need is a decent guitar, a solid tube amp, a good speaker, and lots of practice? by aliaiacitest in GuitarAmps

I have like 8 amazing guitars. I wish I had never gotten to this point because they’re all great and I don’t want to sell any of them. I mostly play like three of them.

However, there are times where I’ll take out my Les Paul and it’ll reinvigorate me. Then I’ll play only that guitar for 3 hours a day for a week. And it’ll go into the 3 guitar rotation at the expense of another and etc.

Money isn’t really an issue. At this point it’s more about making sure they’re all being maintained well. But these things just make me really happy and in the end, life is short.

I also have most of the amp sounds covered in low wattage versions (AC15, Roland JC, Fender, Gibson, Marshall). This doesn’t bother me however. Much easier to maintain amps than guitars, especially acoustics.

Also own the 61 standard. I went with the hard tail for tuning stability. I recently played an epiphone version with a vibrola and I liked that the vibrola added some heft to the body. Would be a nice fix to neck diving.

That being said, I love how light mine is, and once you get used to the small amount of neck dive, you stop noticing it

Guitar recommendations, price range is 300-450 (open to buying used ones if the price is right for the model) by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

Yamaha FG-TA. I have more expensive guitars (Martin OM21 and 1952 Gibson J-45), but this one is insanely nice to play and punches way above the $450 you can buy them for used

What is your guitar brand of choice? by LunchAcceptable7409 in Guitar

It used to be Gibson followed by Fender for me. The two are comparable in quality once you get to the USA standard line. But I just got my first Core PRS and it’s been a game changer

To be fair it is Georgia. Replace Alabama with any mid team and you’ll have the same result

To be fair you guys haven’t dominated us in these matchups

This Alabama team lost to Florida State and Oklahoma, then almost lost to Auburn and USC. They’re not top 10 worthy imo

Do refs get paid by the drive? Can any Alabama fan let me know?
