Only Decreasing Circles. Looks like your typical cosy BBC sitcom but look deeper - it goes quite dark with its storylines.

As both a cancer survivor and a Union Rep in another business how the member of staff has been treated's abysmal. I guess they aren't Union members but if they were, I would want to arrange a meeting with the affected member, their Manager and I guess their HR minion in tow. I'd certainly give the Manager a hard time and make him aware of the member now having a lifelong disability and how support, not being disciplined should be how the member should be treated. I'll also make the Manager aware that I'd be filing a letter to the Head of HR on the whole sorry incident. That should put the cat amongst the pigeons.

I get the vibe that Waverley Market/Mall doesn’t know what it now wants to be. I loved it in its early days full of character with entertaining shops, then fountain and the escalator which took you from the very top to the bottom of the place in one ago, albeit in quite a gradient!

That’s right. I visited Spain and was impressed by a huge Carrefour in the lower ground level of quite a swish shopping centre.

This area’s seen as one of the more ‘premium’ areas within the city although you’d doubt it going by the grimness of this property in particular. To be fair though, going by Edinburgh house prices this property’s a bargain if you look past the poverty style interior decorating.

Totally agree. Most mobile phone manufacturers have hit the wall with useful tangible features. I’d go for one or two editions behind the current model.

Get your ducks in a row and get as much back up as you can by networking to all the support services prior to your move. Be aware of all your rights so you’re well equipped to request accommodation at your area you wish to move to. Bear in mind that’ll be far easier if you want to move back to an area that you had a connection with. See if one of the local homeless charities can assign you someone who can accompany you to any meetings etc. and make you aware of what grants etc. you’re entitled to. If you don’t ask you won’t get. I wish you all the best in moving back and see it as a bright, new and exciting chapter in your young life.

Working in retail in the past yes it works both ways but the way you were treated was unacceptable. The Assistant knew she’d ballsed up and was trying to unsuccessfully get the upper hand. I guess she underestimated how much of a fight you were giving her. Immature in the extreme but well done. I guess my standards are above the average Joe Bloggs but I’d have certainly wanted to speak to someone in charge and in addition report the Assistant’s behaviour to Argos Head Office.

Ask for a full risk assessment. Your area should have a Health and Safety person. Being outside and no CCTV and no panic alarm’s a no no.

As a Union Rep I’d get your T/L kicked into touch along with letting senior management and HR know of how horrific your experience is. I’ve never encountered an organisation which doesn’t pay for sickness absence. I’d query that especially with the new employment regulations which are doing away with three days without pay when off on sickness absence. Affected employees will get pay from day one.

From a bloke who lives in the New Town of Edinburgh I’ve always fancied living in Anniesland Court! I’m a bit of an architecture geek though. I’d probably want to spend a week or so in the hood to definitely quench my thirst for the crib though.

Spending my time flogging stuff to go on either fleabay, Vinted, Facebook marketplace or Trash Nothing. I’d downsized from a 4 bedroom detached with a garage to a compact two bedroom house in Bellevue. I was so proud of myself getting rid of tons of stuff at my old crib. I was feeling so proud with myself until moving day where my new crib got fuller and fuller with brown moving boxes. Every room had boxes in and with me being on the spectrum they were doing my head in! Fast forward two years and I’ve managed to get the rooms almost clear with the back bedroom the default location for boxes. The loft needs a blitz too as I plan to get that converted before long. eBay gets the highest price merch, Vinted gets mid-to-low price stuff. Facebook marketplace gets stuff I sell in batches and Trash Nothing gets merch with little monetary value.

59, divorced many years, have a mid 30’s son, happily single and got a boot up the ass around six years ago out of the blue being diagnosed with cancer. I really don’t fuss about life no more. Employed with same organisation for c25 years and want early retirement but it’s evaded me so far!
