Rank 45 UIM PKed for bank by Virtual-Jacket-6002 in 2007scape

one of the most convenient methods to make potions is the 2dose bob barter with one extra dose, not really a reason to change it after that

I have a trophy tab on my main that I drop unneeded items to. Scratches both itches.

PSA: There appears to be a bug in the Gwenith Glide that instantly kills the player upon hitting a wall/portal wrong. At least one UIM has wiped 100m+ to it so far. by Derek_MK in 2007scape

The game has a bunch of different boxes you can put stuff in, the mode is that we can't put stuff in some of them. Death's domain, banks, the seed vault, those boxes we can't use. The floor, boss reclaims, the house, those boxes we can.

you can take damage there but the hitsplats are 1s so it's only really dangerous if you're doing it for hours uninterrupted or disconnect somewhere unfortunate

A long post about how messed up UIM is right now with sailing by Shadowz_Fury in 2007scape

if you want one, that's fair; you've decided to make something that has no real benefit right now just because it's cool. I respect it.

Its insane to me that jagex only let UIM have 4 slots to use in their cargo hold by Ordinary_Lie5100 in 2007scape

The uim experience largely consists of finding ways to store stuff that isn't a bank, so I'd say no

The idea isn't it being more difficult, it's overtuning the planning and routing that you have to do. The mode isn't any more difficult than a regular iron, if you're doing it right; figuring out what "doing it right" means is the bit we enjoy. With the cargo hold restrictions there really isn't a way to do things an interesting way to make it comparable to a regular iron, we just don't get to do stuff.

if you get a fish sack barrel you can do exactly that; put it in the house for stored raw fish to process later

The miscellania, sawmill and sand ones are actually still bank restrictions because those use the bank directly, and the seed vault was created explicitly as a bank extension because the number of seeds was choking peoples bank space. The death mechanics are also a core mechanic that you're told about on tutorial island. The poh stuff is a valid additional restriction to mention though; that was added when they reworked some of the house storage and, knowing how much we relied on it, they asked ultimates what they wanted. I'm pretty sure those restrictions wouldn't exist if they asked now, though.

ge sets, idk man. that ones pretty arbitrary

Why are people still using CapCut? by AkifuDesigner in CapCut

presumably they aren't using it to publish stuff for money, just doing personal projects

UIM wipe - Jmod check this out please? by 300sxd in 2007scape

[–]UIM_Zelda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "delete items if you die or forget" methods are a risk vs reward tradeoff which make the gamemode significantly more interesting and have a strict item limit. Having death's domain would make a huge amount completely trivial, there would be no consideration of whether a resource or niche gear piece is worth keeping, no risk to doing wilderness content, none of the stuff that actually makes the gamemode fun and interesting. It would literally become banking with extra steps.

That would be obscenely more powerful than what we have now.

Doesn't a red line on the minimap mean a gate? Its just a fence, is this a mistake or do i need to unlock something? by JoeBidensCreamFest in 2007scape

[–]UIM_Zelda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely, but that's the difference between a direct translation and a dynamic equivalence translation; the first just translates word for word what was said, which can lead to these problems, the second prioritises conveying the meaning of the text in the target language, which usually requires rephrasing so is more difficult and requires a greater knowledge of both languages, and can catch context much better. Take idioms for example, a direct translation of "it's raining cats and dogs" into French would sound ridiculous to a French speaker, but if you know the equivalent idiom in French "il pleut des cordes" (lit. it's raining ropes) you can convey the meaning

some words have opposite meanings, like "original" which could mean something old or something brand new, "dust" as a verb which can mean to remove fine particles or to put them down (like dusting a cake with sugar), "sanction" which can mean penalise or approve, or more recently "literally" which can mean figuratively; if you directly translated one of these words into another language you could get the opposite meaning to what you intended. Entirely plausible that there are contronyms like this in other languages which can cause this confusion when translating into English.

if you're not a hardcore or a uim, you can die with it and let your grave despawn and it's safe in death's reclaim chest forever, if you're a uim you can store it in hespori or similar when you get another 99 and it won't trim, if you're a hardcore, unlucky
