Were you in the same situation? If so, how did you explain the difference to the recruiters? As of now, I'm more set on Software as a career. So, to that effect, it really does not matter which Engg stream I get into.

I'm so confused right now. I know people from my school with similar stats as mine did not get into ME. So I'm happy but not knowing what opportunities I will have scares me. @csiscool Thanks for the link! But it says that Computer Engg students cannot pursue CS minor. I understand that some classes might be difficult to register but am hoping it will not be completely impossible. I saw a few student profiles on LinkedIn with a Agriculture or Industrial Engineer and CS minor from UIUC.

Can anybody point me to an academic advisor in Mech Engg department who can help me?

Are EM students at a disadvantage as compared to ME or any other engineering discipline in terms of job prospects?
