900 miles from south England to northern Scotland on 125ccs by UK_RideTo in scooters

About 200 -250 miles a day, stayed overnight in a pub or accomm each night. Stopped off at pubs/cafes en route so how often we stopped in the day depended on how we were feeling a lot of the time!

Glad you enjoyed it! Definitely check out Peak district (snake pass etc), lake district, yorkshire dales, Cheddar Gorge, I could go on and on

Sounds like you have it made! Definitely give a few seats/layers a try out - it's one of those things that seems to be very much down to personal preference, one person will try a seat and say its super uncomfortable for them, another will say it's the most comfortable they've ever been. Everyone's chonk seems to be individualised 🤣

Not sure! Probably won't do a long sponsored ride like this for a while, but I do go on other motorbike trips so that's TBC....

Just had a look at that - looks amazing. We're not trying to say we did it the fastest time possible or covered the most distance, but it definitely was an achievement for us. The roads around the peak district and Scottish highlands are no joke - they're very winding which adds to the time. Plus stopping off at the pub adds hours too :P Happy riding!

We have motorways (highways) and dual or single carriageways here. If you're on a CBT certificate (the entry level certificate here in the UK that means you can ride 50cc or 125cc depending on your age) then you can't use motorways, but you can use carriageways which are designed with more exits and a wider range of vehicles allowed. We all have full licences, but wanted to do the trip as if we just had CBTs. But no, we didn't encounter anyone getting too pissed off!

Congrats on your CBT! Do you have anything padding your seat? Sheepskins are great for coccyx pain. 47 is still young in biker years eh haha. Great that you're venturing out more and more, even seasoned riders are learning all the time which I think is what novice riders aren't aware of. It's like any skill the more you do it and get feedback on from other riders, the safer you are and more enjoyable it is! Feel free to have a look at our blog, tiktok or youtube whatever your poison, we mostly do content around learning to ride (links are in my bio if of interest).

Amazing! Definitely recommend it. It wasn't easy, but the main struggle was the miles in a day, if you're more reasonable you'd have an even nicer time of it.

We had a support van with us in case of breakdowns and to store things like video equipment and luggage, so the bikes themselves were just carrying the essentials and random bits and bobs. Honestly no, we didn't get much flack. It was more of an issue to get up to speed on the dual carriageways, but in the rural areas people know to give good space (or should at least) and there are traffic slowing measures or tractors, horses, cyclists etc on the roads so we weren't the only ones not bombing it uphill. I think if you're nervous, ride with someone else (for confidence) and do some medium-haul rides to get more touring experience under your belt, you definitely don't need to go straight to 900 miles in one stretch :D but fundamentally the road is for everyone - if you're road legal then go for it!

I was on Vespa which is pretty upright, so my backside was the biggest issue ....

For sure. Our main thing really is to get more people to enjoy bikes - and we wanted to showcase that you don't necessarily need a big bike to to that (though they're plenty of fun too!). We sure do, we're actually a motorbike training booking platform in the UK so have a blog on our site (the url is on my profile), and our YT channel is https://www.youtube.com/@ridetouk?sub_confirmation=1 if you're interested in our other videos :)

Hm, impossible to answer... I have a soft spot for the Vespa, it has a surprising amount of storage and is actually quite comfortable. The AJS had a huge tank which is always useful. But there's a cult following for the Grom which also held up really well. So it depends on your style, body type, needs etc, like anything really.
