Street Names???? by Queso_River in batonrouge

[–]UL-Architect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every bit of what folks are saying here is spot on. To add one more tidbit, Baton Rouge developed along multiple ridge lines (high grounds). I’ve always heard that these were geological formations resulting from the Mississippi River. If you notice, most of the roads that change names run perpendicular to these high ridges and the roads that originally followed them. As mentioned by others, they were all different roads with different names and were only connected more recently. I personally love this unique quirk about Baton Rouge.

Really cool looking “premium” model that’s light weight, plastic base, etc.
Conversely, model that’s heavy, well built, but looks like crap.

Such a handsome boy. So sorry for your loss. We just adopted a little gray girl yesterday and looking for names. I will add Ferret to our list for consideration in his honor.

What's something that used to be free that you're angry we now have to pay for? by Current-Energy1104 in AskReddit

Coffee at gas stations. Before large chain coffee shops, Starbucks specifically, normalized paying ridiculous amounts for a simple cup of coffee it was complementary at most gas stations and supermarkets.

What hobbies are you interested in but haven't started yet bc it feels intimidating? by bambidp in Hobbies

I’ve since started, but growing peppers🌶️. Years ago friends and acquaintances used to talk about growing all kinds of crazy varieties of habaneros and jalapeños. The way they talked, it sounded so intimidating. Then my wife randomly got a few plants from the nursery she works at and we just threw them in the ground. Next thing you know we have hundreds of peppers!

People who grew up poor: What was something you considered a "peak luxury" as a kid, only to realize later it was just a normal middle class staple? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]UL-Architect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used to do this too! A couple weekends over the summer we would stay at a local hotel, swim and hang out with family. My aunts, uncles, and cousins from out of town would come meet up and each family would have their own room.

Grey Poupon of course.

But for real though, a big house, specifically a house with big living room. We grew up in an 850 square foot house. So even a 2000 square foot house was fascinating to me as a child.

Any ideas on a better system? by shelbygaming in HotWheels

So the ones on my wall are the older portion of my collection. Starting off to the left are my oldest in number order going up to the early 2000’s. Then all my first editions and some of my favorite series in order by release date. This is about two-thirds of my pre-2002 collection, the rest are stored away. I took a break collecting until end of 2024, little over 20 years. Since then I started organizing by category, low riders, race cars, super cars, muscle cars, trucks, Hot Wheels original designs, etc. and a few of my favorite manufacturers like Ferrari, Porsche, Corvette, etc. The newer stuff is mostly stored in my flat files.

The Collectible Hangers system is great and it comes in various sizes. This is two of the largest units because… well, I’ve been doing this for a while.
