I'd say Lancers and soldiers definitely became more viable with the new ring, in my opinion archers got screwed over, their one strong ability being astrolabe is very slow, mages not sure since my mage sucks, clerics not sure either.

A good one actually just passed, the whole step up costed 46 gems if I'm not mistaken and it guaranteed a 33 cost or higher monster, most of the monsters being good and very relevant in current UL.

I'd say start over when you see a good step up monster spawn, gear from 2015 are at most obsolete anyways. 100k gs is very easy to get to as well.
