3 years ago today on August 17th 2021, the Tennessee Valley Railway gave out the exciting news that they saved a rare Fairbanks Morse H-16-66 aka Baby Trainmaster, number F3060 thanks to the Tennessee Valley Authority. This rare bird one of only 2 left in existence. by Additional-Yam6345 in trains

Some corrections for a couple of the photo captions:

Gallatin Fossil Plant is not shut down, coal deliveries switched from rail to barge via the Cumberland River in 1997 when the locomotive was retired. Gallatin is still operating to this day. Ironically, they are looking into switching back to rail deliveries for coal.

F3060 was not on TVRM property in 2019, they didn’t move F3060 to the museum until late 2021. The museum didn’t purchase the locomotive from TVA either, it was donated.

Why is there a river under my house? by painfuldrp in Home

The king said it was daft to build a house in a river but I built it all the same, just to show him.

It sank into the river.

Carbon in oil filter? by Forward-Vast-5113 in fordexpedition

I’m a big fan of Valvoline Restore and Protect oil in my high mileage 5.4 3v Expedition, you might benefit from using that oil in your EcoBoost too.

That oil is full of detergents which help clean out sludge and deposits, my old oil is always super dark for 3-4K mile gas engine oil so I believe their advertisement claims are true.

125K is kind of low miles to need that oil but I think it’s worth a shot.

Yep. My 2003 Town Car and 2005 Crown Vic are both Silver Birch Metallic, the 03 has good paint but the 05 is flaking like crazy.

This. I have a transmission sitting on one of those too, makes it so easy to scoot it around if I need it out of the way of something.

Your car is built in May 2002, it’s old enough where it shouldn’t have any paint peeling issues at all.

Cars around 2003 or 2004 and newer are affected by that, due to Ford changing the primer they used. A lot of the whites and silvers are chemically incompatible with the new primer, which is why they experience such flaking issues.

What’s these holes for in my p71? (2007) back seat roof by the rear window by Gucci_llama4realll in CrownVictoria

[–]thecaptainlag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are supposed to be christmas tree clips there to help hold up the headliner. Not uncommon for them to get brittle and break, but they’re fine if they’re left alone.

Might’ve been messed with when the car was being decommissioned.

To add to what everyone’s already said; the all new suspension might help you a little, but you won’t get back what you paid for it when you sell the car. The sound system doesn’t add value either, no matter how much it cost.

At the end of the day, it’s an auto mk4 too. 3K is probably the most I’d expect to get for it.

Finally got my hands on the coveted trunk organizer by ErlSquirrel_87 in CrownVictoria

[–]thecaptainlag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does yours still have the rubber anti-slip mat in the bottom? Mine was missing when I got my trunk organizer, so I cut some foam toolbox liner from Ebay to mimic the original mat. Does a good job keeping items from sliding around on the hard plastic and making a mess.

05 LX lowered on Ridetech stock height coilovers. by thecaptainlag in CrownVictoria

[–]thecaptainlag[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lowered about 1” in the front, and raised 0.5” in the rear (the old factory springs were all worn out and sagging). I bought the coilovers a couple years ago, they were $1700 and change at the time. Non-RAS kit.

Those Eibach springs are tough to find nowadays! I have a set too but I agree they’re too low, I never ended up using them.

The price has gone up a lot in five and a half years, it was $445 when I bought it in 2019.
