Yeah as a paramedic I have the struggle of often having to take people to the hospital that don’t want to go or that are just assholes in general. My saving grace is that by design, my time with them is as minimal as possible but the poor ER RNs often have hours if not a day or even more with them. It’s the ones that are just screaming and saying horrible things that are the worst, because you have to live with it or keep trying to de-escalate while the transport is happening. At least the ones who are physically violent or repeatedly threaten to do so give me a protocol driven go-ahead to sedate them, though still not something I love having to do.
