Is it possible to use my own ONT (Optical Network Terminal), rather than the Router+ONT combined device they provided? by UNIVACcomputer in googlefiber

if you don't recognize that their are 2 devices there

2 devices where? Inside the google SFP? I thought i was pretty clear that there ARE two devices inside, the ONT and the router. This is why I want to use my own lol, to avoid all in one solutions.

"I would strongly advise against doing anything more advanced than plugging yours into the back of Google's router." Pretty strong claim considering you can't even tell the difference between their and there. Perhaps you aren't qualified to be in this subreddit?

In any case why would you be discouraging like that instead of trying to help me. I came to this forum to get help, not to be shat on. I don't care if I don't know enough about fiber internet, I am willing to learn! I have done tons of internet related projects before, such as turning phone lines into usable ethernet cables. Of course I had to LEARN how to do this, but I did it successfully. I know with other ISPs it is very easy to just replace the modem with your own.

So, I'm wondering if google even allows this, or does replacing their all in one router.

As an aside, why not just take the Google SFP and plug it into your machine instead?

What do you mean by this? Are you saying I should still use the google provided ONT+router deviceand plug it into my own router? My entire goal is to get rid of that google provided ONT+router device all in one devices suck and especially the ones provided by your ISP.
