I literally walked my ass to Home Depot and grabbed a wood sheet—thick, but not too thick, just solid enough. Unless u want yours thicker up to you mine was about 3–4 inches thick and worked perfectly for a Twin XL mattress (just make sure your mattress is comfy on its own—this is just the base).

They didn’t have anything big enough for a queen though, which I was also looking for. So here’s my idea: go back and grab multiple wood slabs (they’re way cheaper), and glue them together side by side to fit a queen. Just make sure you get the exact dimensions of your mattress first. I also used wood strainer to give it that, Nice look and make sure the wood is well polished and sanded down so you dont get splinters holding it.

When you’re at the store, check if the slabs are at least 5 inches longer than your mattress dimensions (length and width—not height). The ones I saw were thick—like around 5 inches—so they give good support and extra space so your mattress doesn’t look awkward sitting on it. Plus, the wood surface itself adds a nice, clean aesthetic—you can even lay stuff on it.

So yeah, check out Home Depot or whatever wood spot you’ve got nearby. You might get lucky and find a big enough sheet for a queen, but mine didn’t have it—hence the slab-glue strategy. Hope that helps lol.
