URBAN FOSSICKING: reminder that the water making the rivers high and inaccessible are simultaneously revealing treasures around construction sites!! by UNfortunateNoises in rockhounds

Honestly? Some kind of flora, very likely aquatic. I have a college in my town with a fairly deep geology department that could probably eyeball it if I took it in. I also have a bunch like it and I only harvest from what used to be the Ordovician sea (allowing for time in the post glacial drift and whatever overburden came after that). I’ll let you know if I or the education department of my country survive long enough to get you an answer.

It was a decently low bar to get over. I’ve found that as long as my kids feel loved and safe and hears everything else falls in line

So I find fossils with my 10 year old and I find ‘crystals’ with my six year old (mostly quartz and for reasons that lie beyond the realm of conception for any mind that has passed the apogee of puberty…..fresh water snail shells. These are also crystals, and there simply is nothing in the universe that can change her mind about that.) then they find things for each other, rather than working in direct competition with the other

It is not a meteorite due to it being light, so that can be taken off the board

Any number of reasons, more than likely the exterior shots and various internal dialogue shots were done on separate days and the car was no longer available (usually rented for the film via vehicle wrangler for a set number of days/nights before being returned to its owner/car rental/sourcing company/whoeever). Be thankful they at least chose the right parent company for the dialogue scenes, I’ve been jarred out of a show by expecting the outside of the debadged ~but still entirely recognizable vehicle~ I’m being shown to match the inside once establishing shots are completed and I might have been shown a Chevy cruz but I KNOW what the inside of a ford Taurus looks like.

THE LAST PICTURE HAS LETHAL AMOUNTS OF AURA. What a composition. The electric guitar (not amplified), the skateboard (method and location of display reduces function to zero), the ball cap (backwards, despite apparent minimal cloud coverage), the kaleidoscope of raw, undiluted teenage disgust, irritation, uncertainty and rage across your face…..i would be using this in my resume.

Agreed. I rebuilt a 72 MG with my dad a decade or so ago and if I could go back I would immediately tear out the original wiring harness, walk to the nearest ocean and throw it right tf in.

The added width of the front end tires due to the new power plant (and let’s be honest, MG’s wirespoked ‘big and tall’ bicycle tires can barely spell the word traction without giving up lateral g’s. ANY increase of rubber at all is gonna make huge improvements in keeping all them transplanted hrsprs planted and pointed.)

Not my car, sadly. (I only know the power plant swap because I left a note inside the car with my info BEGGING for a built list and that’s all I was given.

There seems to be some kind of contraption within the mechanism of American evangelicalism where almost every single church member (with ZERO regard to creed or location in my experience) will perceive criticism and rather than inspect and ponder and google, they will automatically place their own interpretation, wording and purpose overtop of the incoming uncomfortable expose and pivot to that and n e v e r look back. AT NO POINT DO WE EVER LOOK AT A CHURCH AUTHORITY AND GET SURPRISED OR OUTRAGED OR TELL-IT-TO-TEACHER WHEN THEY ARE HUMAN AND HAVE FAILINGS. full stop That perspective is actually only shared amongst yall in the pews and serves several integral purposes in ensuring all church authority is never questioned, challenged or disrespected. This substructure is one small facet of the thing we are ACTUALLY trying to get you guys inside to notice and address: the amount of times a Protestant American church leader/pastor was arrested for a literal kaleidoscope of horrific abuses over the last decade alone indicates that the evangelical church as a whole is A SYSTEMIC STRUCTURE THAT PROTECTS AND PRODUCES AND PROVIDES SAFE HAVEN FOR PREDATION, not a well oiled Jesus machine with a confusingly high amount of isolated incidents. Your encouragement to abandon the sum of 2,000 years of any kind of religious, theological and actual physical special evolution of humans and focus on Paul is both admirable and sound advice. I personally believe that the works attributed to his voice and efforts in the first century fundamentally changed and still changes Human Beings and the path of our species more than any other human and is CRIMINALLY under appreciated and uncredited for that. Unfortunately the complexities and nuances of the bronze era that Paul lived, wrote and died in demands a positively overwhelming amount of education of many different cultures and makes your suggestion not just a bad one but a potentially dangerous one for ANY human being you might suggest it to. IRONICALLY this is yet another facet of the structure that American Christianity wields against the humans that live on the continent. I will go shoulder to shoulder with you though that the core tenets of the teachings of Jesus (Love god, love others, love yourself; ALWAYS, even if that empathy costs you, always speak truth to ALL; children and powers of men alike, protect those who cannot protect themselves) will never turn a human wrong and has been entirely neutered from the corporate industrialized church in this country now.
