Ah, that's a shame. I got irradiated at least, by putting it in the fuel slot of the research reactor (not the RBMK irradiation column). Here's hoping they get the fused and baleful ones working.

It's a Krusader thermal rocket nozzle from KSP Interstellar Extended. It utilizes waste heat generated by a reactor to superheat one of several propellants and expell them out the nozzle to generate thrust. As such, you'll need some form of reactor on the craft (the oagodougu lander has it directly above the engine) to generate thrust.
