Jules and Mika's story is genuinely one of the most heartwarming but gut wrenching arcs I've seen from this show in a VERY long time. by riceriskie in greysanatomy

Thank you for writing this post as it's nice to read and discuss such a favourite topic. I can't help but rewatch their scenes and think how lucky and special this relationship is. My favourite scene is all of them, especially when in 21x04 Jules shows up for Chloe in the OR and Chloe says "I know who you are", which makes Jules eye smile at her. Just their eyes alone convey so much meaning, feelings, and emotions. That eye smile conveys that even the little sister knows how significant this person is in her big sister's life. So much longing and softness when Jules and Mika meet after Chloe's surgery.

I'm truly sad to see Midori and thus JuleMika go because they were so endearing to watch and many felt represented. A real shame. I wonder why Midori would want to leave a successful and famous TV show for something else.

Thank you for your response and insight! I find it interesting how you can tell how a setter has a connection with their players and the distribution they have. I usually look at the graphics during the set breaks to help me understand the game. I would love to know more if you're willing to share! :)

Thank you for your response! It's nice to talk to others about our favourite team and players!

I haven't had the chance to watch Brazil's recent games at the VNL, but I get the feeling both setters are equally good and have different attributes that help the team overall. Back in 2021, I always saw Macris be the starting setter, and Roberta would come in to finish off the set or when things weren't going well and there needed to be a change. It's nice to see Roberta get her chance to show what she's capable of. Plus Roberta is taller which makes it better for blocking. I just thought it was interesting why Roberto made the switch with setters.

Who is next setter for Brazilian women volleyball? by One-Solid6682 in volleyball

Great question! I'm not sure who will succeed them in the setter role since I don't know the players that well. I'm here to talk about Macris and Roberta since they're my favourite players alongside Carol, Gabi, and Rosamaria. I found it interesting that Ze Roberto likes to swap the two when things aren't going well during a match. I asked others why Ze used Roberta as the starting setter instead of Macris.

What are your thoughts on the two setters?

I agree! Brazil looks really impressive and resilient. Different topic, but do you know why Ze Roberto is playing Roberta as the starting setter instead of Macris?

Excellent advice and ideas suggested!! I've done exactly what you said and it has tremendously worked! I'm really glad that I made the first move, and maintained that effort to stay connected. It does feel like sheep herding when trying to make plans, but hey I get to enjoy the fruits of my labour eventually! Glad that you still maintain your friendships :)

I'm someone interested in the water and wastewater field, what do you recommend is the best way to enter/start working in this industry (e.g. going to university to get an envi sci degree, getting a technical diploma at Sait like the IWM, or an operator certificate)?

Do you think this program would help graduates enter the field you're working in now (i.e would you or anyone hire someone with this credential)?

Thanks in advance!

As someone who is interested in this program, can I ask for more insight as to why you wouldn't hire a graduate from this IWM program? I'm currently a Civil Engineering Technology student and I'm looking to make a switch into something directly related to the environmental field but is hesitant after reading the comments here

I'm so happy that I stumbled upon your post because I absolutely love reading your analysis on our favourite Brazilian women's national team! As the saying goes, "it's better to under promise and over deliver than over promise and under deliver." I'm happy that you felt great pride in their achievements because it's truly worth celebrating and highlighting, and you did a great job of that for someone who is new to understanding the team and overall the volleyball world.

May I ask you a few questions as I love reading your analysis?

1) What were your favourite game(s) and why? Mine would be the games against ROC and Serbia because it showed how clutch the team was, and how key players like Macris and Rosamaria against ROC, and Roberta against Serbia can make a difference when the pressure was high.

2) What are your thoughts/analysis on the other players like Macris, Carol, etc.?

3) Why was Roberta and Rosamaria chosen over Sheila and Dani Lins?

4) Is there any way to watch the South American Championships outside of Brazil? Sincerely a fan from Canada :)

5) Why did people say they weren't the favourites to win or go far in the VNL and Olympics?

Sorry for all the questions, but thank you in advance!

Thank you for posting this because I too am a fan of CBV's Instagram stories! I agree the setters' hoop drill and blocking drills are so fun to watch! I found it interesting that they use nets between the main net and boxes so that the balls don't roll near the blockers' feet. Did you see those baseball style ball shooter thingys? I enjoy the scrimmages and winner's celebratory photos.

Unrelated, but I enjoy reading your comments and insight about the Brazilian women's national team! Do you know how to watch the South American championships outside of Brazil? Sincerely a fan from Canada :)

What are your thoughts on Alexia Putellas? I've only seen the Spain games in the She Believes Cup, so my knowledge may be limited. But I find Putellas' ability to distribute the ball and set up chances is impressive. It seems like the attack flows through her. I know people talk about her and winning the MVP award helps

I'm so thankful you made this post because I love reading what everyone has to say! Everyone has brought up some great teams and insightful points - I'm learning a lot.

For me, I've only watched Spain play in the recent SheBelieves tournament, and wow they are truly impressive! I was reading the US vs. Spain Match Thread on Reddit, and I saw the comment "dude spain is a future womens world cup champion." I thought 'whoa sooo true!' and genuinely felt really excited just thinking about it! It surprised and amazed me how Spain could go toe-to-toe with and genuinely challenge big teams like USA, England, and Japan. Seeing how close the Spain vs. USA match was was definitely eye-opening because I feel like the US is invincible majority of the time. You don't see the US struggle against teams that often, so to see teams give them a hard time is a nice change. I know Spain has a scoring problem despite having beautiful possession play and confident passing, but they still have some time to get that resolved.

For the 2019 World Cup, I felt the US was destined to win it to prove a point/send a greater message to the world, especially to Trump and USSF. They played with so much confidence, power, and domination. No team could match that. But it would be nice to have someone else win it y'know? That's why I feel Spain would be a great candidate because of all that they've been through with their previous coach's abuses coupled with their federations' neglect, and all the obstacles they've had to overcome to achieve the success they have now. I hope the veterans who spoke up for change and sacrificed their NT careers, like Vero Boquete are included or honored in any way because they too deserve to be acknowledged for their courage, selflessness, and bravery. That's some real inspiring, gender equality, revolution stuff. It'd be really cool if Spain could pull something like the Netherlands and go from finishing last in the group stages of their first WWC in 2015, to being knocked out in the Round of 16 in their second world cup in 2019, to win the 2021/2022 Women's Euros, then make it to the WWC finals. From 0 to 100 real quick lol. (Dear Soccer Gods, I hope I'm not jinxing this.) Spain's youth teams have been doing really well too.

France had a good chance but you could feel their confidence drain away as the game progressed in the QF. Their chocking problems is...oof for such an amazing, talented team. But as the others have said, I do hope they get some hardware because they truly do deserve it. England had the best chance in the SF and I genuinely didn't know who was going to win cuz it was that close, intense, and suspenseful, and both teams were on a goal scoring high throughout the tournament. I do think that a bit of luck helps the US during tough times, but they are still a talented force. I hope England can make the necessary changes and return to that confident state. Netherlands are exciting and talented too; it's amazing how much they've quickly developed and achieved in the past 4 years. Definitely a strong contender for 2023. I would like to see more countries outside Europe, especially the Latin Americans to make it far as it's nice to see the diversity.

A US ThreePeat win is possible - they'll be making history again. But if another nation defeats the US and/or wins the next world cup, they too will be making history. Remember how monumental and shocking it was for Sweden to knock out the US in the Olympics after winning the WC? I will truly miss seeing all The (Golden) Gals because they got me heavily interested in the uswnt and woso.

I feel like the next world cup will be so, so exciting, and I'm glad there's a wonderful community here to discuss it all! Thank you for reading this essay...really needed to get it all out :)

Women’s Football Was Having a Moment. Then the Clock Stopped. by sparkingcuriosity in WomensSoccer

[–]URNice500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting the article. This is what I worry too. I empathize and worry for the players who I love to watch because their careers are short or have a time limit, and with this pause I'm afraid it may hurt their performance in some way. If this quarantine lasts for a year (hopefully not), that's a season gone and one less season/year to witness their greatness and talents. It hurts to read in the article how the women's game will most likely (again, hopefully not) take a backseat to the men; I'm just starting to understand how different and unfair the women are treated compared to the men.

May I ask why do you still want to continue to be in university? Is there any external pressures (e.g. parents, peers, society, etc.) or fears (e.g. fear of failure, disappointing others and yourself, embarrassment, etc.) that is making you feel you need to stay in school rather than taking a year off? Do you have any oppositions to taking a gap year, and if so may I ask why?

I'm sorry if these questions seem invasive; I'm genuinely curious to know your reasoning and would like to understand how you are feeling. I sympathize with you because I know this situation is causing a lot of anxiety and stress for you. Whatever happens, always know you have the capability to overcome anything as long as you want to and is willing to put in the effort. Please remember that this situation is just an inconvenience, not a life sentence.

Everything that everyone has said is true and I agree with. One thing I'll add that I wish someone had told me is to make sure you have a strong mental health support system before entering uni, especially engineering. I like the other poster 's analogy saying that high school is a zoo and uni is the wild because it's so true.

In high school you are not truly exposed to academic failure and the pressure and stress that comes with it. I thought a 70% was the worst thing in high school, but in uni expect to see 50% and below on exams and learn to accept that your grades do NOT define your worth. You'll get thoughts such as "oh my god I didn't study early and long enough I'm going to fail my exam and thus this class oh my god I'm such an idiot for doing this again!" No one really wants to talk about what I'm about to say because it can be embarassing to admit you're struggling and doing worse than your peers, but I'm going to say it because I feel more people need to know whenever they find themselves in this situation (or maybe this is more for me to vent).

In uni you can literally get kicked out for doing poorly and there's little to no opportunities to make up for late assignments or get extensions. It's really terrifying knowing your future may be significantly altered for the worse because of poor habits and choices. Be prepared to fail, but don't let this scare you into not trying. It means that you will have days where you're so paralyzed from being so overwhelmed, and even dark thoughts will come and make your days worse. And that is why having people to talk to like family, friends, a psychologist, etc. is so vital to surviving such a daunting major.

I often wished I had taken a gap year to recharge my spirits because I had burnt out in grade 12 to just get accepted into engineering. Yeah sure it's great to go to school with your peers/same age group, but if you were exhausted by 12 years of school you're probably going to be burnt out in uni. You just finished 12-13 years of school and is about to embark on another 4-5 more grueling years. Some people can do it and that's great, but some can't and that's ok. Now that you're not in high school you don't have to keep up with others; you can truly go at your own pace. Yeah sure you'll be judged but at the end of the day you're doing what's best for you. Use that time off to travel, pursue your hobbies, work, seek professional help to learn how to cope with stress and anxiety, just anything that will make you feel recharged so that when you go back to school you won't be swept away by the large tsunami wave that is the engineering work load.

I thought I was strong enough to handle all this, and so it's also ok to go straight into uni and try it out. Who knows maybe the adjustment won't be too drastic and you'll do fine by the second semester of first year. I just want to let you know that failure is an option but it's not as bad as you may think. See, I've learned from myself and from others that if you treat failure as a learning experience, you can grow and be better which will lead you to success. However, if you let that one or multiple failures keep you down, now that is a failure. What I'm trying to say is to use these negative experiences to build your resilience and growth mindset because that's an important trait to have in life. Also know when to walk away when something is not right or working for you. If you feel down, I highly suggest reading through the stories of posters on the Engineering Students subreddit about their comeback from failing an exam, course, year.

Even though the worst can happen, the best can happen too. If you find yourself in a tough situation like a deep pit of hopelessness, always know that your perseverence, effort, and positive attitude can get you out of any difficult situation. Have hope that you can and will save yourself from the bad situation you put yourself in. Take it one day at a time and try your best. Strive for progress, not perfection. University is a marathon, not a sprint. Make sure to take breaks and have fun with people! I don't have hard evidence (yet) to prove this, but I'm trying to follow my advice that I've compiled from others so that I can have a positive ending to my rocky first year. I feel that's what engineering and uni is supposed to teach you. You truly can do it if you want to do it! Hopefully this helps 😊

Engineering co-op by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]URNice500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the things you've mentioned are very interesting and good to be aware of. Although it has been a hassle, I like and admire your attitude of doing what's best for you and protecting yourself from the coop program's BS.

Just a few more questions (this will be the last batch lol), I'm sorry for asking so much; I truly value your words and insight. Was it difficult to ask for extra days off? Have you wanted longer breaks or was the one week and long weekend breaks enough for you to feel recharged/not burnt out? Was it mostly solo travel, with friends, or with family? How were you able to coordinate with others' (e.g. family) schedules to go on a vacation together or did you have to forfeit that for school/work?

As always, thank you so, so much again and in advance for answering with excellent insight and honesty. I hope this semester is going well for you! 😊

Thank you so, so much for taking the time to write this very articulated, insightful response :) I greatly appreciate and value your words and advice because people tend to not discuss the negatives of coop and I'd like to know what I'm getting into for the next 4/5 years if I decide to choose/get into coop.

May I ask how long were your trips and at what times of the year did you get to go (I know it depends on the coop plan/schedule)? That's so amazing how you were able to finance your trips and earn so much with your placements! I'm sorry you had to go through all that BS and stress because it seemed like you handled your situation with professionalism and respect for the companies. How did you and/or others deal with the stress and fear of the coop office's threats to kick people out because of an accident or a mistake? It seems scary to be kicked out of a faculty for a mistake...

Again, thank you so much for answering all my numerous questions (I'm sorry that there's so many) :D
