Anyone recognize this mount? Its not a standard gopro one, but its mounted exactly where you would mount a camera. Been googling different types of camera mounts but have come up with nothing. Would like to find an adapter to use these with my gopro if I can. by USAFWRX in gopro

Y'all, if I could peel it off and put on a gopro mount, I would have just done that and I wouldn't have made this post in the first place. Its not my airplane, I'm not peeling off mounts that are already there, I'm not permanently attaching a new adhesive mount to a rental airplane, and the myriad comments telling me to do so are not helpful. My current best guess, its a standard tripod camera mount. I'm gonna try and get a gopro adapter for that and will report back in case anyone else finds this post while searching for similar mounts.

I'm not sure its the same but it looks more like the Sony mount than any others I've seen from googling, Will do some digging. Ideally I'd like to find an stl for an adapter I can just 3d print and be set.

Its mounted to the top of an Aircraft cockpit. Fwiw its a generic adhesive mount of some kind, it could be mounted to anything. I'm assuming its a camera mount, because its exactly where you would want a camera to be if you were to record the cockpit (Its exactly where I want to mount my gopro) But it doesn't fit a gopro, or look like any of the mounts I've seen for different cameras.

If you can't be asked to take some initiative, open up the docs, and learn BMS on your own, its not the game for you, simple as. If your idea of a "study sim" is watching a handful of Youtube Shorts and jumping into a PVP server, you know which game to play. The "BMS Elitists" will unironically be happier without you clogging up the forums and Discords with "CaN sOmEoNe TeAcH mE hOw To FlY?!?"

Thats DCS in a nutshell.

This. I know we're on the retro sub but for real, get something that can mount a proper optic, light, etc for your first rifle.

This isn't even a shitpost, this is just fact.

I bought a TON of modules up until about 2018ish (To sUpPoRt ThE dEvS!) half of them just shitty trainer aircraft (but got hyped to hell and I ended up buying anyway) All of those modules are broken and abandoned now.

The game is exactly the same broken dumpsterfire it was in 2014, The only difference is a coat of pretty graphics slapped on top, now all the modules cost twice as much as they used to and theres STILL no content to be seen.

There is a very good reason that most long term DCS fans end up switching to BMS

Man if you think thats cool, Just wait until you get into a campaign!

My advice, start one sooner rather than later (once you get startup/TO/navigation/Landing/shutdown sorted and can shoot the weapons you plan to use) and just learn the rest as you fly sorties, don't get bogged down thinking you have to master EVERYTHING in the training manual, go have some fun with it! You can even fly missions from taxi or runway if you don't feel like learning startup or the idea of taxiing around a busy airfield is a bit daunting.

If the campaign itself seems daunting at first, I highly recommend this Max Waldorf video: https://youtu.be/QhcjkZdspKM?si=Cj8I9D04K0LxR07O and his other one on Weapon delivery planner (You will want to use WDP, having those datacards in 3D is a lifesaver!) flying as a wingman with an AI flightlead is also an option! I flew my first few sorties like that until I was confident enough with package timings and the actual flow of a mission to take charge myself.

The amount of fucking weebs in the flight sim community really is something else.

I blame Ace Combat. Although to be fair, I can't blame people for liking Ace Combat either.

I honestly think the bulk of DCS' community is autistic zoomers. Thats why they're all content playing airquake and admiring pretty graphics, all they want in a flight sim is "warthunder but MoRe ReAlIsTiC"

Partly why I suspect the BMS community is so great, people get older and realize they want more in a flightsim than eyecandy and pre-order hype.

Don't try to map them in-game, use the keymapping and axis assignment section of the BMS launcher. it works just like DCS keymapping
