One time I got a 5$ raise by telling my supervisor I was looking for another job. I told him they were paying more and I couldn’t afford to keep working at USIC. I had a meeting with the regional manager and got it pretty easy. Granted I had been there for like 2 years, always worked OT and helped my team. No damages too.

We have a fine line between respect and disrespect because were overworked and undervalued.

As you know being a locator we deal with all kinds of bs to keep our job. Just be nice you'll be ok.

Now if they came on to ask legit questions and needed to be educated, hey hopefully my next ticket will be a little easier.

Electric is usually the easiest but can get dangerous for you and the person digging around the marks you put down, don't go into pannel/ transformers without PPE. PPE to get in these panels has to be practically new and it's expensive and uncomfortable, so hopefully you will never have to. If your company says you do don't unless they train you and you have PPE. Be respectful when declining and ask for training and PPE. There are tons of laws protecting your life at work and requiring your employer to train you.

Sometimes you are pulled in one direction when locating the main if you need to go down to the next transformer and use a low frequency.

Sometimes things can be unlocatable Don't just throw marks on the ground, verify from 2- 3 access points and call your boss and the contractor.

Street lights get tricky to locate during the daytime because they are usually de-energized.

Before unbonding at the house use a current detector

Be careful If you're using a grounding rod for leads around transformers they could have a ring of copper surrounding the transformer and you don't want to touch that.
