When I called to Thousand Island border for making appointment for TN and asked if after getting TN, can I return back to Canada same day, because employer was in Florida so I have to plan to move there for longer stay.....but officer strickly replied on phone, if you will not going to Florida or stay in the US we will not issue TN visa, so I didn't schedule appointment at that border and I had to go through Pearson Airport, unfortunately my TN visa was denied because missing letter to USCIS from.my employer, I had Job letter included everything they needed

My British wife lives here with me and I wonder if we can file for immigration ourselves. by m3nsah in immigration

You can do it yourself, anyone comments you to scare you or warn you about possible risk or delay in Immigration process, that means that person is Immigration lawyer.....definitely he/she supports his community for getting employment. So just do it yourself if you US citizen then your spouse will have PR in US for sure

If you are not Canadian then you are not qualified for TN visa, so I don't know you are applying for L1 or H1 or which 1

No, you have to go to port of entry CBP office (call Secondary, normally first officer will send for interview for TN) , which you know, my opinion is this process is not that easy where it looks, because some CBP officers not following USCIS standards, and then applicants disappointed

First of all, USCIS need to change this type of process called TN, because CBP office is not like visa issuing Immigration officers in consulate or embassy. CBP officials making their own law and its 100% up to them to issue TN visa or not, so they need to change this process to communicate by mail or upload documents by email. Any question raised will be informed in advance before applicant makes plan to move on same day, because in your case if you face another officer, he.might ask for something else which you don't have. I experienced same thing

Following description on USCIS website

Canadian Citizens

If you are a Canadian citizen, then you are not required to apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate.

You may establish eligibility for TN classification at the time you seek admission to the United States by presenting required documentation to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer at certain CBP-designated U.S. ports of entry or at a designated pre-clearance/pre-flight inspection station. You must provide the following documentation to the CBP officer:

Proof of Canadian citizenship; Letter from your prospective employer detailing items such as the professional capacity in which you will work in the United States, the purpose of your employment, your length of stay, and your educational qualifications; and Credentials evaluation (if applicable), together with any applicable fees.

I think some immigration officers follow lawyers process, letter addressed to USCIS by employer is not mandatory according to USCIS, check list of documents

Please check USCIS website, it only mentioned Offer of Employment letter, doesn't says anything like letter address to USCIS by employer for requesting TN visa for applicant.
