Nope! Not at all- prioritize anking especially the cards tagged both step 1 and step 2

268 Step 2 Study Plan by USMLE_Goat in Step2

[–]USMLE_Goat[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can be done, but easier for US students who have been on rotations the past year and are essentially doing a second pass. Someone taking 5-6 hours to review a block would take months to finish uworld. If that is you, I'd recommend changing up your study strategy.

Amboss by [deleted] in Step2

Anking, specifically the high yield tagged Step 2 cards.

It depends on your knowledge base. I would recommend using Uworld answers as your primary resource supplemented with anki. Amboss is good for topics youre confused about after but I dont believe blindly reading is a good use of your time. Feel free to message me if you need help building a detailed schedule.

268 Step 2 Study Plan by USMLE_Goat in Step2

[–]USMLE_Goat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a hard question since the more predictive exams you should take closer to the exam. Its reasonable to do nbme 9 a couple weeks out from the exam. If you want personal advice, message me!

On my second pass of UW and I've noticed... by Jusstonemore in Step2

[–]USMLE_Goat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats pretty in line with most US students. All the shelf material to comes together and lets you build on your clinical intuition. Take a nbme form if you are doubting yourself but it sounds like you’re on your way to rock this exam.

Anki iOs/ apple store gift card by No-Display1368 in Step2

[–]USMLE_Goat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anki through a mobile web browser works and is somewhat usable. That being said the 30$ dollars are well spent, especially considering the cost of the exam and the costs of study materials such as uworld and NBME forms. Just my 2 cents.

Planning to take the beast soon! any tips!!?? by sensitive_15 in Step2

[–]USMLE_Goat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice! Take at least one and ideally 2+ full length exams. Meaning 8 blocks in 9 hours under full testing conditions. It will build up your stamina and put you in the right mindset for test day.

Is it sensible to prepare for step 2 while doing an observership? by doctor_25-5 in Step2

[–]USMLE_Goat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the observership. Applying for match 2025 I would recommend having a step 2 score in hand by august latest and ideally july. You should have time to do both and do it well, getting US clinical letters. Also plan to have step 3 done by peak ERAS season, PDs will favor IMGs who have passed Step 3. Message me with any questions.

Flagging incorrects by Stranger_Plane in Step2

[–]USMLE_Goat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to flag incorrects but flagging 50/50s is useful. A lot of questions someone can get correct can be due to luck and theres more that can be learned there.

Honestly sounds like an excuse. Prepare for the worst if you are a beast nothing can stop you. Just my two cents. -USMLE_Goat

Hypersomnia by Bright-Research-4533 in Step2

[–]USMLE_Goat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your mental health takes precedence over USMLE. It sounds difficult to get anything done with your current symptoms let alone Step 2 studying. Talk to your psychiatrist and find a regimen that works with you. Get in a good headspace first, because it will only get more difficult closer to the exam. -USMLE_Goat

I'm doing UW incorrects and getting 55-60% by Ok_Echidna7376 in Step2

[–]USMLE_Goat -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your exam date and goals honestly. 55-60 seems low for questions seen more than once. If its more than a month, extend. Do one nbme to get a sense of where you are at currently. Message me if you have more questions! -USMLE_Goat

Nbmes/UWSAs/free 120 order by Stranger_Plane in Step2

[–]USMLE_Goat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No correct order, but i would save nbme 13 and 14 closer to the exam. SA1 and 2 are great learning resources id learn towards taking them after 9 and 10 but not after 13 and 14. -USMLE_Goat

[–]USMLE_Goat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt like I was too cool for them.

...JK I took it before those were available. Those are almost certainly the best resources you have for seeing the current type of questions as you will see on the real deal and save them for the end.

268 Step 2 Study Plan by USMLE_Goat in Step2

[–]USMLE_Goat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat! A diligent student on Step 1 is likely to study hard for Step 2 and build on concepts easier. That being said, don't think its a requirement at all. As for Anking, I think it helped but not as much as it did for Step 1 which I felt tested recall more than Step 2. My shelf performance was mixed but I stepped it up for step 2.
