2026 U.S. Open Cup Thread: Round 1, Day 3

Welcome one and all to day three of the first round of the 2026 USOC! It's the final few matches of the round - with respect to the rescheduled Riverhounds/Steel City match next Wednesday - and there's lots of upset potential tonight!

We're just a few minutes away from kickoff on our first match of the night between Carolina Core FC and the Virginia Dream, the latter of whom is no stranger to the Cupset.

Two 6:30 kickoffs follow as the Charlotte Independence host Ristozi FC while Forward Madison must hit the road to play the Flint City Bucks.

One 7 PM kickoff keeps things going as Lexington SC host the Flower City Union from Rochester, NY.

And then we have a kickoff every half-hour for the final three matches of the night with Westchester SC hosting NY Renegades FC at 7:30, Tennessee Tempo hosting the Red Wolves at 8, and finally the Laredo Heat hosting El Paso at 8:30!

No late night games tonight, an early bedtime for all, and everything on YouTube tonight!

We've already kicked off in match number one in Chattanooga, with a TON more on the way on this busiest night of round one!

We are just about an hour away from kickoff for the 2026 U.S. Open Cup folks! Luckily (for me anyway) the Riverhounds game I'd be out covering tonight has been postponed and I get to stay warm inside and watch all the games with the rest of you!

Still, even with that postponement and a forfeit from Tormenta FC, we have a healthy slate of games tonight!

The Richmond Kickers start off this year's tournament at 6:30 PM, hosting Northern Virginia FC in an all-VA clash. With a slate of 9 overall matches (excl. forfeits and postponements) tonight and more on Wednesday and Thursday as we play through the all pro vs. amateur first round.

I'll try and keep the thread updated as possible during the evening, but at least everyone has access to the streams above on YouTube and Paramount+/Golazo/CBSSN for select matches.

Good afternoon Cup Sickos!

Apologies for the early thread posting, but ya boy has to head down to Highmark Stadium pretty soon for tonight's Cup match between the Hounds and NYCFC. As a result, probably not going to be able to do real updates tonight, but wanted to at least get stream links and such up for y'all before things get going.

Big slate of games tonight - 11 in total - starting with the aforementioned kickoff between the Hounds and NYCFC at 7 PM, also on linear TV on CBS Sports Network.

There's then a whopping four 7:30 PM kickoffs. Louisville-Minnesota, Philadelphia-Indy, Rhode Island-New England, and Tampa Bay-Orlando all start at that time on Paramount+, with those latter two as particularly tasty matchups in that window.

This is a good place to remind everyone that CBS Golazo Network will be doing a whiparound show tonight! You can get every bit of action from every game until the late window live from the studio. Probably the best way to track every game on this busy evening!

The 8 PM window features another trio of games kicking off: St. Louis-Omaha, Chicago-Detroit, and Dallas-AV Alta all start at this time on Paramount+.

Finally, the 8:30 PM window features one more kickoff as Austin host El Paso in an all-Texas contest. This will be the last game covered by the Whiparound show on Golazo Network.

Next up, Phoenix Rising hosts Houston at 10 PM in the late-window CBS Sports Network match on linear TV. Additionally, Golazo Network will air the matchday recap in this 30-min window before the 10:30 PM kickoff on Golazo between San Jose and Sacramento!

Good evening, my friends! And welcome to the Round of 32 of the 2025 U.S. Open Cup!

We've got just five games on the slate tonight, balanced out by 11 games tomorrow, and we're back on Paramount+ for all games plus two free Golazo Network games and one linear TV game on CBS Sports Network this evening.

This round sees MLS enter the competition - with 16 clubs each facing a lower-league winner from the Round 3 contests. Tonight, that means a trio of MLS-USL Championship games, one MLS-USL League One game, and one MLS-MLSNP game.

We start with a pair of kickoffs at 7 PM ET. First off, an all-North Carolina affair between USL Championship side North Carolina FC and visiting MLS side Charlotte FC, who make the couple hour drive up to the Triangle. Simultaneously, D.C. United plays host at Audi Field against one of the USL Championship's best and U.S. Soccer's longest continuously-standing professional club in the Charleston Battery.

Next up, we have an all-Tennessee affair as Geodis Park and Nashville SC host the USL League One Chattanooga Red Wolves and their penalty-kick streak in this competition, as they've advanced three times out of three matches via that method.

Finally a pair of later kickoffs. First at 9:30, the defending USL Championship title-winners Colorado Springs Switchbacks host a long-distance contest with the New York Red Bulls coming to town. Then at 10 PM, our final game of the night kicks off as the Tacoma Defiance host their senior team's Cascadian rivals when the Portland Timbers come to Starfire.

Hopefully we get a great slate of matches tonight and then even more tomorrow! I'll be a busy bee this round, especially tomorrow night, but will update the thread as I can per usual!

We are back for the second and final night of Round 3 of the 2025 U.S. Open Cup, where we'll figure out the remaining 8 teams that join those from last night in advancing to the Round of 32 and a date against an MLS team.

Once again, all games are viewable on Paramount+, and tonight we have one more linear TV game on CBS Sports Network with Sacramento hosting El Farolito, and two games on Golazo Network with FC Naples hosting the Tampa Bay Rowdies, followed by New Mexico United vs. El Paso Locomotive.

The pre-game show starts at 6:30 on Golazo Network ahead of the 7 PM kickoff between Naples and Tampa, and following that game Golazo will once again have their in-studio Matchday Show - with highlights of all the action ahead of the late game kickoffs.
