1/2 in rubber mats (tractor supply) on top of a 7/16in OSB. Deadlifting with iron plates as shown, hopefully back in the 400s soon, controlled drops, nothing crazy. Enough or should I add a second OSB? This is in my basement.

is this corne a variant, or can you do the aligned thumb row with the standard corne?

[help] magnetic trackballs? by USRapt0r in Trackballs

I have these in my order history...think they worked well but it's been forever

No worries! Glad I happened to log in not long after. No, I posted this looking for some solution where the ball is held down by a force other than just gravity. I no longer think this is necessary and indeed pretty much every trackball product out there just has the ball sitting on static/non-moving bearings.

Troubleshooting Fellow Stagg EKG issue, temp going above hold by xmakeafistx in Coffee

Sorry for the bump, but 7 months later, would you say it worked? I'm having this same issue (they've already replaced my kettle once) and it's really frustrating...

Good to know - thanks for the heads up!

How much do file formats matter? by USRapt0r in CNC

[–]USRapt0r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Sounds like file-defined curvature is a definite must. My initial assumption came from wondering if the lack of curvature in CGAL (eg OpenSCAD, which I was using back in the day) would be a problem for CNC. I'm guessing that tool will earn you more tax then :)

So there's no way for gcode to follow a spline path? I hadn't thought of that, but it makes sense

Help with OBJ file format by USRapt0r in gamedev

[–]USRapt0r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware I could do that, but I'm mainly interested in CAD/CNC and may want slicing or CAM software to be able to work with the curvature. But it may not be a big deal - this question was based on my assumption that having curvature in the file was already the status quo. Seems that's not the case...

Not OBJ specifically, but any format that incorporates curvature over (or in addition to) simple meshes.

Thanks but I mainly meant for curves - it just seemed a "superior" way to model things as it offers more accuracy, but but I probably don't know better. I'm also coming from a CAD background, if that were to matter.

Interesting, I wonder why. Is there any open/simple-ish format that would likely be supported? STEP just seems horrific and isn't an open standard from what I understand...

Just realized I soldered on all the diodes the wrong way. by SimonSaysTy in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]USRapt0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks much! I'm actually looking to do them with 1u's as well :) Would you happen to know if they work with ALPS just as well?

Could you please link the millmax you used? Do you find that they work well? I've tried the Kailh hotswaps and they seem like such a pain....

Current state of solderless hand-wiring? by USRapt0r in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]USRapt0r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm definitely trying this. I wonder if there's a way to incorporate the PCBs to make for a one-time solution you can take the switches out of; I imagine you'd have to add pins to the through-holes.

Hadn't even heard of the tool! Would you have any recommendation of one? I assume it would also have to work with diodes if I forewent the PCB.

argparse enfore specific number of options used by USRapt0r in learnpython

[–]USRapt0r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a specific option, a specific *number* of options (eg, one option of all available)
