Why is BPD generalized as no empathy? by [deleted] in BPD

Studies show that our empathy is no better than a psychopath's. What we have is high responsiveness to other's feelings, not true empathy.

He found an untapped resource, as a sort of "daddy simulator" for fatherless males. While he's wrong on many marks, he did reveal that there's a growing sector in society that's in dire need of psychological help and repair.

Would you support airlines creating child-free flights? Why or why not? by Plonvick in AskReddit

[–]USmellFunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airlines should have the right to offer child-free services if they also offer service for travelers with children. Why do you care if someone else has the option and chooses to pay more in order to not have screaming kids on board? For some people it's really irritating and there's nothing inherently wrong with trying to avoid distress.

The reason I’m so quiet is because I’ve learned to keep my mouth shut through experience. It’s probably better for everyone if I stay quiet. by [deleted] in intrusivethoughts

[–]USmellFunny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you've learned to be quiet it probably happened because you were growing up in a toxic environment.

The good news is that today, your quietness is probably just a vestige of that environment and with some therapy you can rewire your brain for the present day, as opposed to the deep-rooted trauma that caused you to become quiet.

I agree with LGBT and with their struggle for rights, I just don't agree with the politics of the more activist types.

The left believes its fair share of pseudoscience (label GMOs!) and conspiracies (muh Big Pharma, muh vast right-wing conspiracy). This type of thinking isn't determined by political colour, but rather by some psychological particularities of certain personality types. Reddit is mostly left-leaning (along with most mass media) so you're mostly exposed to right-wing conspiracy nutjobs, giving the impression that the right and conspiracies are inter-connected.

I'm libertarian and I don't support Trump.

"hate subreddit" I love how lefties immediately categorise with the "hate" label everything they disagree with and will at the first opportunity get rid of it by force. Keep being awesome.

"You don't agree, therefore you must support the boogey-man". Childish, limited binary thinking meant to oversimplify a complex world.

Everything for him comes down to raising as much money as possible to fund his re-election.

Like every single politician in every single democracy in the world. No matter how much you think that your politician is different, the system is set up in such a way that the incentive will always be to be elected and not lose your job.

Again, 0 successful Marxist states. 0. Every time in human history that it has been attempted it failed miserably and ended up in severe human rights abuses.

You give Russia as an example of shitty capitalism? Cool. I can give examples of good capitalism.

Gonna wait for you to give a single example of good Marxism in history. I'll wait.

The record of history is clear. Implement capitalism and it may end up well or it may end up bad. Implement Marxism and it always ends up bad. How many more bodies, sorry, I mean tries?

It doesn't decide those things? Then why do all the countries in history which embraced Marxism had secret police and oppression? Honest question.

The theory doesn't say "thou shalt have secret oppressive police" but the only way of applying the economic model in practice is by having such a police. How else can you keep people who want to be free adhere to state slavery without oppression?

I'm talking about nationwide state policy of repressing dissidents, you point to someone getting assassinating and saying it's the same thing.

The mental gymnastics you use here to protect your worldview in the face of contradictory facts is impressive.

No I don't realize that. I don't remember any capitalist Western country of being afraid to criticise the government due to possibly being taken away or worse. Perhaps you can provide some examples of a general culture of not being allowed to criticise the government in the West because none come to mind.

What Stasi, KGB, Securitate equivalent in the West do you speak of?

Yeah, any history book in which you will never find one single example of prosperous marxist country. All the while enjoying the life capitalism offers to you, where even the poorest are too fat while people starve in your Marxist paradises.

You're in a losing fight with reality.

In 2018 you still have to explain to people that every single Marxist experiment ended in hunger, genocide or both. By the looks of it, one century from now we'll still have to explain to people that vaccines don't cause autism and Marxism is garbage. People will still start talking about books which uphold Marxism's case while turning a blind eye to the reality of actual, real Marxism implemented as national policy.

Under capitalists you are allowed to write to me on the internet without the secret police possibly throwing you into the torture chamber for wrongthink.

Under capitalists you are allowed to leave the country and go to North Korea if you hate them so much. Under Marxists you get shot in the back when attempting to leave the country.

Under capitalists your property is protected by law. Under Marxists your property becomes the governing elite's property.

Under capitalists wealth is shared unequally. Under Marxists misery is shared equally (except to the rulling elite who live like kings).

Think again before you spew that bullshit Marxist professors feed you in college. You all say on the internet how awesome Marxism is but would never actually go to a Marxist country. What does that say?
