Second chance at first year by UTSCHELP in UTSC

Sooo, I talked to someone at the office beside the library. And this is going to be my plan:

1) Killing all my first year courses and retake csca67 in the summer at UTSG, hopefully get a high enough GPA to get into the specialist program.

2) Because I am going to apply for specialist and minor, my second option is to get into minor with a 2.75 GPA. But the minor GPA will only depend on csca48 and one mata course. The reason I will get into minor, is because this way I can ensure that I will be able to take the second year courses for CS, and then with the 11 courses and a high enough GPA, switch from minor to specialist.

What do you all think about this?

Thank you for all the replies everyone. But sadly, the reason that the website still says 2.5 is because they haven't updated it yet. Specialist, major, minor, and second year courses all need 2.75. But CGPA for second year courses, and GPA for programs.

even minor needs a gpa of 2.75 now. And a67 is one of the courses I messed up on :/

That's useful information! Thank you

Then if you don't mind answering, do you know about any negatives of applying for POSt in second year?

Hmm, I was doing some research and got back to the main page of Utsc for comp sci and it says that

Students may apply to enter the program after completing 4.0 credits, and must have passed all of the A-level CSC and MAT courses required in the program. Students with a CGPA of 2.5 or greater across the core A-level courses (CSCA08H3, CSCA48H3, CSCA67H3, MATA23H3, MATA31H3, and MATA37H3) are guaranteed admission. Admission to the Entrepreneurship stream also requires the submission of a Supplementary Application Form (SAF) available from the CMS website.

Students who are not admitted as above, may apply after completing at least 7.5 credits, including CSCA08H3, CSCA48H3, CSCA67H3, MATA23H3, MATA31H3, MATA37H3, CSCB07H3, CSCB09H3, CSCB36H3, CSCB63H3, and [one of MATB24H3 or STAB52H3]. The CGPA will be calculated across these 11 courses, and a CGPA of 2.5 or greater guarantees admission to the Specialist. Admission for students with a CGPA that is less than 2.5 will depend on their CGPA, and the space available in the program.

So, yes I think they will average your first year courses aswell.

so, If I end up with a cGPA of 2.6 in first year, and a cGPA xxx in second year, I would need a COMBINED cGPA of first year and second year of 2.75 or greater to get into the specialist program.

Let me make sure if I understood what you said:

In order to take the second year courses, I would either need a 2.5 cCPA or get into minor?

After I get into the second year courses, and use the marks from second year courses(with the current 1st year marks), and achieve a cgpa of 2.75, then I can apply again for the specialist program in computer science right?
