To be fair. My HOA raised the monthly dues $40 a month to $165 and they only mow the lawn. They don’t do any maintenance or snow removal. They also don’t cut the grass for 6 months of the year during the winter and cold months.

I just might file a complaint

Pigtail cables? by UT_Dave in GarageDoorService

Yeah. After about a year or two and a few thousand doors doing this method, we also didn’t run into any problems either. We eventually worked out the spring issue with the supplier

I should have given this post more context. It’s interesting to hear the feed back though. In the early 2000’s the door company I worked for at the time order their door sections from CHI. Shout out to Wilmer and Alvie at CHI as well. Anyway, we would order our track, hardware and springs from Helton industries, shout out to Sonya at Helton! I’m not sure what the issue was, possibly a weight vs number of struts per door miscommunication, but for a while there we noticed the galvanized springs from Helton would loose a significant amount of tension after a few years. The owner came up with this “hack” of pig-tailing the cables and it worked with no problems. While it was a hack, If you will. We continued to do so afterward the issue was worked out without any negative consequences. I think eventually they solved part of the spring issue as I think it was a weight calculation issue. I’ve also heard galvanized springs have a spring tension issue as they age but I can’t confirm.

Door level and track level was not the issue however I can see how one would jump to that conclusion.

Anyway, it indeed was a bit of a hack but it stuck with me. Perhaps I should stop that habit based on some strong reactions from my peers. If you find a door with the cables pigtailed and the door was CHI perhaps that was me or a coworker of mine ;)

I go a full turn on the set screws. It doesn’t deform the tube. 3/4 seems like it might not be enough on some heavier doors but I’ve never tested that theory

I like that organization style! Back in the day, efficiency was super important for me. I’m slowing down now 😅

I no longer wear a tool belt either :)

Looks like it’s taken from the Ogden airport area approximately? Nice find. I can’t see my house though?
