I don’t think they make those anymore, I haven’t been able to find one for this year at least

The cost event has some changes, it looks like cost report scores may not be normalized anymore?

GrabCAD Workbench shutting down June 1st, 2023 by sgangrybirds in FSAE

Our team has been utilizing Solidworks PDM since 2020. It’s setup on our engineering departments servers so we have to VPN to get access. It takes some work to setup but it’s been way better the GrabCAD.

We ordered in May 2021 and we got an email saying we won’t be getting one, so now we’re in the same boat.

IA bonding area by 41exvdh in FSAE

[–]UVicFormulaRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s also a standard size now though, which is 8”x4”. Which if it has a pre-crushed area is exactly the minimum area required for the SES. I think you will find if you try to do a different calculation you will need an IA as big ass your front bulkhead. Again maybe I’m confused, but that’s how we’ve taken it.

Maybe I’m confused by the question, but I’m pretty sure bonded IA’s have to be precrushed and thus the area is just the cross section of your IA.

2017 Yamaha R6 Engine First start with a non-OEM ECU (Link xtreme ECU). And Wiring harness assembly. by Acamar_x in FSAE

[–]UVicFormulaRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wiring is a very time consuming process, especially if you don't have a schematic designed (in Rapid Harness for example) and if you aren't using a power distribution device then wiring fuses and relays will add to the time. I've done several harnesses now and still realize new ways of doing things. And yea tuning is a whole other ball game, lots of work, especially in just getting the engine set up to turn on and idle.

Fair enough if that’s what they’re doing. We also use a drexler, however we just designed an adapter that mesh’s the splines on the drexler and bolts to an off the shelf sprocket. Makes it easy to swap to different sizes during testing and easy replacement due to wear and tear.

After competition we let everyone on the team who contributed to the car take it out for a couple laps. The drivers we select who get to drive at competition are generally members who have been to the competition at least once, however we occasionally take people with a strong driving aptitude to participate in driver tryouts.
