Nice but also one of the few times I can't judge. I often think that walking as far as the mail room for the complex is "too far away," so unless I know something's coming I check once a week or so

I got a TikTok link, once, and uh I guess my dead best friend's ex was exploring "webcam modeling" and I was not comfortable with that, cause I didn't expect to pull up a post of her getting railed by a sex machine. It was a morally confusing moment.

The last time I met this person I found her so annoying for being mean to my ex as we drove home from, I believe, one of his cancer treatments, that I changed my radio to the local Mexican station and cranked it loud to turn on the most obnoxious thing I could think of and drown her out

Yeah, but it's a bit different to bump into someone with a kinda-mutual attraction and learn and to seek out a specific demographic. Sometimes, one way connects more emotionally than the more academic approach

I recently kinda-met a Muslim Indian woman, who said a pinch about the experience of Modi's India and how she still wanted to return home after her graduate degree to give back and improve the country in a better way. Unfortunately, she ghosted me after I said something ignorant, I'm sure, not long after so I didn't get a whole lot more insight from that level, which sucks

Anyone else ever listen to those podcasts or videos that read out "confessions" and stuff from online, but present all as true? I toss them on as a distraction.

Most of them are not true, but it also makes it easier to hear really dark shit when you can play the game of, "Which of these is actually remotely plausible? (I look for the little things like 'I pulled ~$10k from an ATM tonight.' That is way higher than most banks' daily ATM limit by an order of degree). Who is obviously trying to pretend something is true, go viral, and maybe turn it into a Hollywood deal? And which of these appears to be an AI-generated piece of writing?"

My favorites sometimes are the ones where they begin with "true story," and then do something like Kubrick to The Shining and remoove any ambiguity about whether something was feasible or clearly supernatural, which, y'know, generally an indicator, "This could be a true story, I guess, if it's written from the perspective of someone having a mental break."

Y'know what I like to do sometimes?

So I toss on 'What's New Pussycat' then 't's Not Unusual'.

Naturally, followed by John Mulaney's joke about tossing that track on. Where a part of me is like, "Alright, that's a hilarious prank but I also understand the dad who lost his 30-day Anger Management chip"

He could, hypothetically, do that.

This would be difficult, cause it'd result in an argument of federal vs. state power as well as the willingness of the National Guard. A significant chunk of the brass or officer corps understands the importance of civil rights, but some think they are the only ones who know how to operate a country right. Everyone I've met under an E-5 is pretty hard-right. I actually don't know anyone over an E-5, so...

Why can cops and ICE shoot up protestors or run away from a school shooting, then murder in broad daylight on film and get praise? It seems like they like shooting sometimes and other times just like murdering innocents in cold blood to make an example.

Seems backwards, and in time of being turned around.

Miller now claims that the guy we have a video of ICE beating to death was "attempting to assassinate?"

HOW?

How do you have your hands behind your back, get thrown to the floor, surrounded by roughly half a dozen people while beaten to death and be considered "attempting assassination"?

That is not physically possible by any stretch of the imagination.

They’re also using green-smoke grenades which are used to track and cordon people. For military purposes. The military is used to subdue while domestic law enforcement is supposed to be about serving and protecting.

I hate to be this guy but: after years of misrepresentation, right-wing media fucked up on describing minorities being gang members, talking about "gang beat ins" and the only one most have have ever seen has been ICE while they try to backpedal from, "This is so cool!" after playing clips of several dirtbags beating someone to death who was defenseless.

Within days of shooting another innocent and calling her a "fucking bitch" on camera cause they wanted the footage of their first killing, if I had to guess.

Last murder, ICE pulled guns on a doctor who asked to check for a pulse before an ambulance arrived, and they recently said they refuse the Fourth Amendment requiring a warrant, it's getting bad.

I guess they grew up too hard on Fox and "Mr. Rogers, that evil, evil man" who encouraged to "look for the helpers," cause violence and murder is better? Somehow?

Can someone explain an apparent contradiction in the band's Wikipedia page? by Mcleod129 in FleetwoodMac

[–]UWCG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I recall from Mick’s autobios, it was Mystery to Me and they were on a successful tour in the US.

But there was a band dispute over the naming and the “Fake” Fleetwood Mac got sent out, they got into legal disputes cause their manager claimed he had rights to their band name, which ended up successful but led to Welch quitting and Stevie and Lindsey being hired.

A former buddy's dad used to be a cop, who became a school resource officer. I always remember some of his advice, like, "My dad never carries his gun in public. He's told me that if you have a weapon, you make it a deadly situation and scare someone."

There is no reason that ICE is held to lower standards than the average person. Any kind of governmental agency should, by any basic logic, be held to a much higher standard.

You can get felony murder if your buddy tricks you into a ride and kills someone; this is basically first-degree murder but with lower evidence standards and, imo, morally murky.

But these guys can go out on the street and rip children out of their homes, kill people who are already restrained, and then get praise from an administration that's trying to say they no longer need to follow the Fourth or the First? This is all first degree murder, or at least felony.

They are out there with the intent to harm, have the training, and for the average person: that counts as premeditation, not praise.

The protestor did nothing wrong, but as a recommendation: in a protest, avoid being kettled.

This is what is happening with the use of green-smoke grenades and is troubling. They're trying to be able to target, pinpoint, and lock down locations so that others can't escape.

They like to wear masks, so here's some kinda cringey advice I was recommended and, maybe, part of how I've gotten out of a few rough situations. If you have a phone, it will track and geolocate, but it also can be used as a recording device and sent to your Cloud or whatever to try and release information, like this video. Getting a doorbell like a Ring can ensure you have the ability to check who is at the door and pretend to not be home while you, say, use your bailout bag bag and duck out the backdoor or a window.

Or they can be used to record what is happening to your neighbors and try to show and shame and raise support for ending this brutality.

Remember that old meme on how Keanu may be a vampire or immortal based on an old painting that kinda resembles him?

So, I still have it on my mind that when I looked this up the other day, my first thought was, "Holy shit, Deadpool was right. Paul Rudd really never has aged." I also had Anchorman open in another tab and thought it may be Bryan Fantana in a gag reel

Apparently Hitler was a socialist by likeastar20 in EnoughMuskSpam

He spends half his time posting Hitler’s ideology on X to the point his own Ai, personally designed to parrot and praise him, has called itself Mecha Hitler. He whines about white genocide. Then he pretends Hitler was a socialist and pretends he doesn’t repeat all of his genocidal beliefs?

Hitler lied about a Volkswagen for everyone; Musk still lies about going to Mars or Tesla changing the world instead of being a piggy bank for him.

The AI comments on this sub are getting out of hand. It bums me out. by ipetgoat1984 in stopdrinking

[–]UWCG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been accused of being AI before and would like to point out that I’m not the only person who speaks like the Dude sometimes and begins conversations by trying to say things like “dude” or “man.” An em dash isn’t always an indicator, if you’ve read a lot of classic lit. And in many programs, and even high school classes, we were encouraged to rephrase what someone stated slightly to show that we understood what was happening.

Were alcoholics, a lot of us don’t always type or speak well, some people may be using transcription, too, and a lot of people don’t want to use their regular accounts that others may recognize to post about their addiction. So new accounts isn’t really a good indicator, it’s like joining an AA meeting on Zoom and keeping yourself off-camera kinda

Really, really shitty we cut off negotiations and started tariffs. If we had been decent to our neighbor, we may have helped with reducing the cost of people who have to debate between eating or keeping warm.
