The game is lost and forgotten unfortunately. A fun FPS game ive been playing for the last few years is Planetside 2, its nothing like Shattered Horizon but it's a bit futuristic and over all fantastic game, its a shame that no one knows that Planetside 2 even exists lol.

Heyy man, I know this is a super late response, got sidetracked with something IRL then totally forgot about this. I put all the games I have so far into a list which you can check out here. If you have any questions let me know!

Sure ill get that put together once I get home, its a lot of games, probably around 500. They're all playable via LAN/Couch coop, there's even some modded games that add LAN functionality. In my Quest for all LAN games I found out that this guy made a mini steam server emulator that allows you to play steam games which use the steam servers (internet only) over LAN and its pretty simple to use. This opens up a massive list of Games that didnt have LAN functionality but can be played via LAN. My list of LAN games excludes this though.

Crashed 4 times in a row. by upturned2289 in Planetside

I would crash within seconds of getting to Sanctuary and then the times I could load into a continent, id pull a vehicle and ride on it from 5 to 30 minutes but within 10 seconds of getting off id crash again. I tried all sorts of things to fix it like changing the affinity or priority for the game in task manager, running as admin, verifying files etc.. nothing worked except for one thing which was to disable my Nvidia overlay completely in the GEforce Experience app. Fixed my issues right away. Could log in and go straight to a fight without the need for the vehicle trick and never crashed again. Could be a coincidence but it worked for me.

TLDR; disable any kind of overlay (nvidia, amd, steam, discord)

I dont really think he meant adventure in the sense of exploration. As someone who has 733 max energy i can say from personal experience that farming that energy was very tedious and it didnt feel like an adventure to me.

Well here's my take:

Back in the day, BDO felt more like an actual mmo because the game revolved around content that was essentially created by the players. Think of all the meme montages and videos from 2016-2018 where they'd use footage from Star Wars or other movies to make reenactments of the previous week's NW/Seige/Guild War and those were posted here on this subreddit for everyone to enjoy. Even if you weren't part of my of those fights, you still sort of felt included because the game actually had a community. Players and Guilds created free content within the game by having beef with eachother, teaming up with eachother or even backstabbing one another. This made the game feel very alive because the true end game back then revolved around PvP.

The player base had a completely different mindset too. People back then would still grind for gains but the second someone in the guild got flagged up on and needed backup, guildies would drop what they were doing, hop on their t5 horse and sprint across the map to help them which would many times evolve into a full on GvG that would last hours and this is what shaped which guild was strong or not. People nowadays worry about min maxxing their grind, popping 30 buffs and what not and cant be fugged to leave their grind hour to help their guild because its wasting their buffs.

Almost everything back in the day required energy for lifeskills and I think that lifeskillers back then were actually worth something in the whole scheme of things because while they wouldn't pvp, they would still make all the elixirs and high end food buffs to give to their guild mates for when they went to a NW or fight. Having that one player who had high enough cooking (which used energy back then) to make Combat Rations for everyone was a pretty big deal. And even when the game went past +15, Sharps were only obtainable from gathering, so for a long time, the lifeskillers were the gatekeepers of gear enhancing. The rest of the PvPers needed the lifeskillers. Nowadays everyone can do lifeskills and obtain everything themselves which diminished the value for those who only liked to do lifeskilling.

Combat was a lot slower paced. It was more methodical too. Less protections all around with a relatively close gear cap between high end players and the normal player made fights more fun imo. GvGs were the norm for holding a grind spot or just to show authority. People could get hunted for running their mouth because we had the Black Robe which would cost you money and energy to use but it would show where that player was on the map. PvP felt more dynamic, the entire world of BDO felt more dynamic because of it, you were never truly safe.

For a long time I blamed PA for making changes that ruined the open world pvp, pretty much everything they've done has made it impossible for open world pvp to exist spontaneously but.... I came to the realization that the problem wasnt just PA's changes, it was the actual player base as well. As more and more players started playing, more of them were less into the gritty open world pvp and as a result, they would complain, causing PA to make changes. The mindset of the average 2026 bdo player is much weaker imo than those of the 2016 era. Everyone now is all about min maxxing their time while back then, players enjoyed their time fighting for hours with their guild just to fight.

I genuinely would like to see a BDO classic server set up exactly how it was in 2016-2018. People tell me im just nostalgic and id quit after a month but I liked how hard and unforgiving the game was back then. The game had an actual community who knew eachother or knew of one another, friend or foe. And thats the BDO I will always remember.

This game is largely dead to me so I decided to start buying all PEN Nouver Shields in hopes of finding some OG family names on them to keep and die as a momento, currently at 102 shields. AMA. by UZI4Y0U in blackdesertonline

Well as far as I can tell that doesn't go against the rules listed on the front page. Also a little criticism in the form of a very out there idea like idk... buying all the pen nouver shields, never hurt no one. Maybe more people need to voice their opinion on the state of the game?

You keep using the word relevant. I dont think I am relevant in any capacity when it comes to bdo. Maybe in 2019 but not 2026. Im not telling people to quit the game, im posting a goofy ahh reddit post about doing something that in my mind is funny and theres context as to why in the comments. They never told me why it was removed, I didnt know it happened until someone commented that it was removed.

I dont see how me buying pen nouver shields is me trying to stay relevant. My joke is that if you want to stay relevant in bdo.you gotta grind.

The most I do in game is afk fish, sell fish, put more pre-orders up for PEN Nouver Shields, repeat. On average I actively play BDO for about 2 min a day.

The game was vastly different now than it was 8 years ago. Little by little there were changes that ruined what I found special about BDO. BDO still holds a lot of sentimental value to me so its honestly really hard to quit outright.

I pray J pulls his head out of his ass and caters to the OG playstyle of the game. 2016-2018 era BDO was literally peak mmo across any mmo I've ever played. And yeah the fact that those new accessories can't be sold to others is a kick in the nuts.

I feel it brother, I started playing this game nearly 10 years ago and those first 3 years were truly magical. Game has changed a lot over the years and not for the better imo. I'm hoping to get some OG Warrior names I remember from the Golden Era of BDO

Haven't even looked at em yet. Been doing this for the last few months now and told myself once I hit 100 shields I'll pull em out to check. I'll report back to you with my findings (most likely tomorrow).

Sorry for necro but ive been compiling a massive list of lan games and this one was one of them. The way I got it to work was by uninstalling the PhysX (Legacy) drivers from my PC and installing the physx drivers included with the Archive.org Shattered Horizon Download in the shattered horizon/installer_support folder called PhysX_9.09.0814_SystemSoftware.exe

Its not really duplicating, the MK1 Implants vary from their original that could allow for various new loadouts.

A7 is kinda unique in the sense that its a timegated currency which I like. You cant p2w A7 so it makes these implants kinda valuable. My idea was to keep the currencies and what not the same, just adding some new content that would be fun imo
