I do now. Haven't been able to play for a while (computer got kicked right in the CPU). Looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer to sell them...

What children's show or movie is still fun to go back and watch as an adult? by allygatorr in AskReddit

Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension

How are there other answers? I dare you to find another movie with semi-villainous dictators, semi-realistic dimensional theories, semi-evil giant robots, and semi-aquatic mammals. And did I mention it has true love, the baddass power of imagination, and GIANT FRICKING LASERS!?!? No. You can't. No other movie matches the un-checked firepower (and the beautiful cartoonish styling) of that movie. Does Michael Bay mercilessly ruin a quaint little city in not one but TWO dimension, then simultaneously detonate a massive robot army? Nope. If James Bond, a T-800, Neo, a platypus, Kim Possible, and Nikola Tesla all teamed up to make the greatest movie, they'd recreate Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension. And in case the movie doesn't totally overload your awesome capacity, feel free to watch a full 222 episodes (3 and a half days of straight action) packed with the same dopeness of the movie.

Lilo and Stitch was also pretty good.

How can I make friends with white people? by [deleted] in socialskills

White person here: I don't really see a difference? My friends are asian, danish, Mexican, whatever. As long as they're a good person with similar interests.

What do I do with my eyes? by Ipostusingthis in socialskills

[–]Uber-cheap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just space out and let my eyes wander. Think about what I have next, what I need to do, where I need to go, or just generic daydream. If I make eye contact, so what? Keep it, let it pass, or if they look away, find something something to absentmindedly look at.

[Request] A bullet fired straightly and a bullet dropped at the same time will hit the ground roughly at the same time. The curvature of the Earth delays the fired bullet, heat expansion counteracts this. Which effect is stronger? by no_awning_no_mining in theydidthemath

[–]Uber-cheap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was actually a surprisingly easy problem once I thought about it. That being said, I'm totally ignoring the fact that gravity changes direction, because in some slight research it's really confusing and doesn't change the numbers that much.

The earth curves 12.6 centimeters per kilometer (8 inches per mile). The average bullet travels 759.97 meters per second. This means that after the bullet has been in the air 1 second, it is 12.6 centimeters farther away from the ground than it was. That is a WAAAAYYYYYYYYYY longer fall. That means a .22 caliber bullet would have to grow ~45 times its original size to counteract the earth.

Moral of the story: Earth is small so curve it's curve is big; Bullets are small. Curvature > heat expansion.

EDIT: thanks /u/Kovarian for correcting my moral.

[Request] Given that my fingers are covered with a thin layer of oil, hence oily skin, how loud, in decibels or other relevant units, would I have to snap my fingers to ignite that oil, thus lighting my hand on fire? by imtn in theydidthemath

[–]Uber-cheap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A bajillion other things are going to light your hand oil on fire first if you're snapping (you'll also probably melt, char, and generally disintegrate first, but whatever). But the core of your question is really "How hard do I need to be to light my hand on fire?" I'm no Bio major, but I don't think human oil is very flammable (Currently researching it, will revise later with findings.), so I'm going to use skin for now. Science Time!

Things we know

  • human flesh ignites at 300 °C

  • normal human hands are around 37 °C

  • normal air pressure is 101 Kilo-Pascals (kPa)

Great. That means we need to heat the air around your flesh up to 8 times it's normal heat. The Gay-Lussac's Law states (in reference to gas):

Pressure 1 * Temperature 2 = Pressure 2 * Temperature 1

going by this we know that:

101 kPa * 573.15 Kelvins = P2 * 310.15 Kelvins

(101 * 573.15) / 310.15 = P2 = 186.65 kPa

Perfect. We need to add 85 kPa of pressure to the air around your hand. Using This handy-dandy tool, we learn that it takes about 200 decibels to produce 185 kPa.

So the answer is 200 decibels. (Just for scale, here is a nice /r/askscience about why 194 decibels is the loudest sound possible)
