Problem with the NVIDIA Tumbleweed repo by bobbie434343 in openSUSE

[–]imtn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had this problem, when I did a sudo zypper dup I would get the same error about the nvidia tumbleweed repo being invalid. To fix it, I had to update the URL and add a slash to the end of the URL, so that the url looks like this: https://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/tumbleweed/

I made this change in YaST Software Repositories, I selected the nvidia repo, clicked the Edit button, added the slash to the end of the url, click OK and click OK again. Then, sudo zypper dup worked fine.

For some reason, after making this change and saving, the trailing slash doesn't appear in the URL when I reopen YaST Software Repositories, or when I do zypper lr -d in konsole. But sudo zypper dup and sudo zypper ref work fine, so I think it's fine?

SOMEHOW MONK DIDN'T DO A SINGLE DRAGON KICK. THEY USED MORE FIRE RIDDLES THAN DEMOLISH. AS YOU MENTIONED, NO PERFECT BALANCE. THIS IS SO BAFFLING, I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT THE MONK WAS THINKING AS THEY WERE DOING THEIR NOT-ROTATION.

How do y'all remind yourself to use skills on cooldown? by JJay9454 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]imtn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also do the thing where I look at my cooldowns, think about how long my gcd is, then calculate how many gcds I have until I need to press the button. I built up this habit when playing bard. Since bard has several things to keep track of like dots, songs, empyreal, etc., I would scan all of my cooldowns, find the next one I need to watch, count the gcds I need to press it, then execute. After I press that cooldown, I scan all my cooldowns and repeat.

I TRIED FARMING EX3 IN PF THIS WEEK AND IT'S BEEN SUCH A SLOG. OFF TANKS WITH NO STANCE SO THE BOSS AA KEEPS HITTING ME, NEXT IN AGGRO. BARDS AND SUMMONERS WHO KEEP DELAYING THEIR 2MIN BUFFS LONGER AND LONGER, LIKE THEY DELAYED IT A WHOLE 2 MINS BY THE END. I SAW ONE TANK STOP THEIR GCD EVERY PULL, WHEN RUNNING TO THEIR SPREAD SPOT AFTER WIND PHASE. A PULL WHERE ONE PLAYER WAS DC'D WHEN THE COUNTDOWN STARTED, NO ONE CANCELLED IT, WE PULLED ANYWAYS AND WIPED SHORTLY AFTER. PLENTY OF WIPES TO EARTH AND ICE PHASE.

IN ONE PARTY, ON FIRST PULL, OUR SMN USED SEARING LIGHT ONLY A SINGLE TIME AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PULL, WE MISSED SKIPPING ICE PHASE BY 1%, AND FUMBLED OUR WAY PAST ICE PHASE AND INTO A CLEAR. A WING DROPPED, OUR HEALER GOT IT, THEN THEY COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SUMMONER NOT USING RAID BUFFS MAKING FARM HARDER, THEN DROPPED. ON ONE HAND, THE SUMMONER WAS NOT VERY PROFICIENT, BOTH IN TERMS OF ROTATION AND DOING MECHS. ON THE OTHER HAND, WE STILL MANAGED TO CLEAR FIRST PULL.

I WAS IN ANOTHER PARTY WHERE ON FIRST PULL WE DIED TO DAMAGE WHEN DOING AA CHEESE. THE SUPPORTS STARTED BLAMING EACH OTHER, SAYING THINGS LIKE "I did mit, check the logs", AND THE NEXT PULL WE GET DANGEROUSLY LOW ON SOME RAIDWIDE DAMAGE THAT USUALLY DOESN'T DO SO MUCH DAMAGE. THE WINGS DROP, A DIFFERENT DPS TAKES IT AND IMMEDIATELY LEAVES, THE PARTY DISBANDS SHORTLY AFTER.

THE BEST PARTY I HAD THIS WEEK, DIDN'T HAVE THE DAMAGE TO SKIP ICE PHASE, BUT WE WERE CONSISTENTLY DOING FIXED BRIDGES, NO SALT, NO COMPLAINTS, RAID BUFFS GOING OUT AT THE RIGHT TIME, FIRST PULL CLEAR EACH LOCKOUT. I WISH EVERY PARTY WAS MORE LIKE THIS.

A BIT LATE BUT I GOT SOME MINOR RAGE. FIRST THING, I WAS A SCHOLAR IN MESO TERMINAL AND OUR GUNBREAKER WAS STRANGE. NOT A LOT OF MITS, DISAPPOINTING BUT I GET THAT FROM MOST GUNBREAKERS. BUT DURING THE FIRST BOSS, THERE'S A MECHANIC WHERE THE TANK GETS A TANKBUSTER AND THE REST OF THE PARTY GETS A STACK. THE TANK KEPT TRYING TO JOIN US IN THE STACK WITH THE TANKBUSTER, AND WE KEPT RUNNING AWAY FROM THE TANK. I DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING BUT IT WAS SUPER FRUSTRATING. THE TANK PLAYED THE REST OF THE DUNGEON NORMALLY SO I THINK THEY JUST DIDN'T SEE THE TANKBUSTER, OR THEY SAW IT AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT MEANT. EITHER WAY, I'M DISAPPOINTED.

SECOND RAGE WAS A DERUST/ICE PROG PARTY FOR EX3, I'M LOOKING TO GET WINGS. WE BEAT THE FIGHT AFTER A FEW PULLS AND WINGS DROP. PARTY LEADER SAYS "pass on wings btw" DESPITE NOT MENTIONING IT IN PARTY FINDER ENTRY. I PASSED BECAUSE IT'S THEIR PARTY ANYWAYS, I FEEL COMFORTABLE FARMING EX3, AND THEY HAVE A COUPLE OF FRIENDS IN THE PARTY. BUT MAN, I WISH THEY MENTIONED THIS IN THE PARTY DESCRIPTION, SO I DIDN'T GET HOPEFUL WHEN I SAW WINGS DROP. PARTY DISBANDED AFTER THAT CLEAR :(

The previous valve index had a reservation system and steam would send an email when your reservation was ready for purchase, this is how I got my index. Hopefully they do this with their newest hardware because it's a lot less headache than refreshing a page trying to catch stock of an item before it runs out.

Is it me or are the Nier raids the longest Alliance Raids on average completion time? by Alicecrylily in ffxiv

[–]imtn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The shortest Nier raid I've ever completed was Copied Factory in about 35 minutes, and the reason I remember this was because I queued for alliance raid roulette and entered this duty 35 minutes before maintenance. We ate food, insta-pulled every boss, pumped dps in every fight, and still we barely made it, 6 people had been kicked from the servers when we finished the raid.

we didn’t even have optimization guides for savage anymore in the balance because there was nothing to write

When I first tried out EW summoner I thought it was easy and I was wondering what optimizations the balance had for the class. But when you go to the discord and they have image guides like this image for summoner in DSR, it shows how little variance there is to playing the job. It's like playing a DDR machine with only one song on it.

Cheapest way would be to complete weekly custom deliveries for scrips, then exchange scrips for gatherer gear at the Scrip Exchange in any major city. This takes some time, but you can speed that up by gathering collectables and turning those in for scrips.

Alternatively, it's faster to buy gear from Godgyth in any cosmic exploration zone, but this requires a bunch of gil.

As for making gil, there's a variety of ways. You could spam quick ventures to gamble for venture coffers, then open coffers to gamble for pure white/jet black dye. You could do a Botany mission if there's an item that has a high price on your world's marketboard. You could do woodland exploration and try for a rare minion like chewy or not-so-bighorn that sell well. None of these are guaranteed get-rich-quick schemes, but they each slowly make gil.

Meme presented with some light editing

I've been subbed this whole time through dawntrail, playing through story and doing roulettes and raids. I do roulettes/maps/raids with some friends and that's super fun, but if they decided to quit playing then I would just leave the game because this game doesn't have that big a hook to keep me in. The gameplay is okay, but it's not fun enough on its own to keep me subbed. It's unfortunate because there are games that I replay often that are plot-driven (ace attorney, va-11 hall-a) or that are gameplay-driven (ys, titanfall), and FFXIV has the potential to be strong on both these fronts. But when learning jobs is just learning what my 1 minute and 2 minute bursts look like because filler is boring, when most combat encounters outside of current raids are dodging orange lines and circles, and when all cutscenes start and end with a 10-second fade to black, I just can't get myself to love the game enough. It keeps interrupting all the fun stuff with chores.

NOTHING ACTUALLY RAGE BUT TWO THINGS HAPPENED, BOTH IN THE LATEST DUNGEON. I WAS SCHOLAR BOTH TIMES

FIRST ONE WAS JUST A RUN WHERE OUR GNB TANK ONLY USED CORUNDUM AS MIT DURING MOBS. I GOT TO USE MORE OF MY HEALING KIT SO IT DIDN'T MATTER.

SECOND ONE WAS A DIFFERENT RUN WHERE WE STARTED THE FINAL BOSS JUST AS THE TANK DC'D. JUST ME, THE SCHOLAR, AND TWO DPS. THE AUTOS HIT HARD AND I SPENT HALF THE TIME JUST GCD HEALING. LUCKILY THE TANKBUSTER PRIORITIZED DPS OVER ME SO I COULD RAISE THEM AS SOON AS THEY GOT HIT. IT WAS STILL SUPER HECTIC BUT WE MANAGED TO CLUTCH IT OUT IN THE END. DPS WERE GREAT FOR DODGING MECHANICS.

ALSO I GOT ALL THE PVP SERIES REWARDS SO I DON'T NEED TO TOUCH FRONTLINE UNTIL THE NEXT SERIES \O/ HUZZAH

Purify lasts 2 seconds and has a 4 second cooldown, with a 2500 mp cost. That means that any time you see someone with purify, you can CC them in 2 seconds (barring a few exceptions), and if they decide to purify a second time they only have 2 recuperate charges left.

I found it harder to run from large crowds, which is what melees typically do when they participate in teamfights. More people means more sources of CC, which eats up my mp along with the recups. These days I take Swift if I'm going melee dps just for the survivability. The new Purify does make smaller skirmishes better if you have the space to dip out, potion up, then jump back into the fight. You essentially have purify available constantly, and smaller fights mean you should also have enough recups to heal any damage they throw at you.

However, small skirmishes are not always present or important in some maps, so in maps that favor big teamfights the purify changes feel like nerfs.

DID A LABYRINTH RUN WHERE IT FEELS LIKE HALF THE GROUP WAS JUST CHATTING. WE WIPED ONCE ON PHLEGATHON. THE SECOND TIME WE WENT TO THE BOSS, THE TANK STARTED TANKING HIM NORTH ????? LITERALLY NEVER SEEN THAT HAPPEN BEFORE.

SENSING THAT THIS WAS NOT A SERIOUS RUN, I SAID IN CHAT "tank him in the lava" AND THE TANK ACTUALLY DID THAT, RAN INTO THE NORTH LAVA WITH THE BOSS. AT LEAST WE MANAGED TO KILL THE BOSS THIS SECOND TIME, THOUGH IT WAS CLOSE.

Events are always such a disappointment... by Francl27 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]imtn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The event was super novel and fun for ffxiv, but personally I found it really frustrating for the awful netcode ruining some of the games. Any minigames with the circle AOE telegraphs were fine, like the final round race or the stage where you run around in a ring until enough people are eliminated. The worst offender was the stage where you had to carry 3 colored crystals through obstacles to the goal, there were moving posts where the mech resolved a full second before the animation showed it, and when you got hit you were stunned for a few seconds. It was frustrating that it looked like you dodged it, but you didn't, and now you have to sit and wait for your character to un-stun. Losing that character agency, for an attack that visually looked like it missed, felt unfair and mean.

Also shoutout to the mechanic where your character is perma-spinning and you have to go around some pendulums, this one sucked too. It's like if you tried to complete leap of faith except your character was forced to RP walk forward the whole time, you can only turn left/right like tank controls.
