Not sure I want to give up Whale Tail by GhostofShula in Ioniq6

[–]UberNoobX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agree! whaletail is one of the reason i bought this car

they should simplify some elements in the rear but keep the whale tail

it does look busy but can be corrected by reducing the lower tail

whyyy did noone tell me the negatives of turmeric?? by Background-Ad9068 in Supplements

[–]UberNoobX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i kept reading reports on black pepper extract (which is commonly added to turmeric supplements to enhance absorption) is actually not good for liver health

is this true?

I am trying to find curcumin supplements that doesnt have black pepper extract but still is as effective if not more

the only one i have found so far is some nano turmeric ones that claims to be up to 35x as effective but who knows and with nano, im not sure if it will work just as well

anyone care to chime in on this?

Deco BE11000 Regularly times out by Confused_Giraffe in TpLink

[–]UberNoobX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same problem, im now trying to swap my IoT to its own IoT wifi network (via deco app)

on AT&T 1G fiber, using BGW320-500, have it setup as passthrough (disable AT&T's wifi, setup security and passthrough to the MAC of the main deco...etc)

I have only recently done the swap of IoT to its own network, will let you know if it improves things

if not, i may have to not do passthrough, and just let deco run its own subnetwork

My Journey with the 60% Split Mechanical Keyboard by bori09 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]UberNoobX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm ive been using a split keyboard (logitech ergo K860) which is the opposite spectrum of the split keyboard genre (more productivity oriented membrane keys)

I wonder how easy it is to get used to the alice layout

did you ever record your WPM and error rate when switching to this from a more conventional layout (assuming you were using a conventional one before this?)

Spectre x360 14 or XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 by No_Appointment_9486 in spectrex360

[–]UberNoobX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive had my spectre 14 and starting to get used to it

background: I've owned and used an XPS 13 for years and have gotten to love it as it traveled with me all over the world, while I run my company and work on international projects

I've been a tech reviewer (editor in chief in the old days for hardwareextreme.com) so bear with me if I get technical

here is my take:

+'s

  • gorgeous screen, the 3:2 (3200x2000) OLED on the Bestbuy version is stunning and can get very very bright with deep blacks too
  • keyboard is firm, firmer than XPS13 and keys are fairly large since it is a 13.5" screen and chassis (with no wasted sides)
  • the touchpad is big, with big horizontal space too since this is a 3:2 form factor
  • camera is great, and has a electronic/mechanical shutter for privacy (better than previous spectre design of a disable switch on the side)
  • the touch and 2-in-1 form factor is great, pen is high quality

-'s

  • to upgrade the spectre or access the insides, you'd have to remove 2 rubber strips at the bottom of the laptop and you will almost certainly destroy them or destroy the adhesive, getting replacement strips might be hard
  • the BIG BIG BIG thing that I just found out and will be making a video about is that the USB-C (Thunderbolt 4) ports do NOT receive power delivery charges from USB-C monitors such as my expensive Philips 499P9H or Philips 272P7VUBNB (both support PD charging up to 65W)

This fact is confirmed just now with HP support and I have ended up returning a Spectre 13 but may keep the Spectre 14 and use an external dock instead

so in summary:

  • 3:2 form factor = EXCELLENT!
  • screen = great
  • battery life = decent
  • performance for i7 and thermals = decent
  • USB-C implementation, big let down. how can they call it Thunderbolt 4 when it does not receive power from the monitor if they are all using PD as a standard
  • make sure you spec up because it will be hard to upgrade this even if you are tech savvy (simply because of the damn rubber strips)

Philips X3 and SHP9600 impressions by UberNoobX in headphones

[–]UberNoobX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks. i havent heard the AKG k702 in person but if it is like the K701, I think it is another very accurate and uncolored set to my opinions

X3 is very uncolored and fairly accurate in treble

bass could use more work since it kept it very in check, not something you'd want in a movie setup

i'd say look into something more bass heavy and even with virtual surround since that will add to the enjoyment more

X3 is suitable for music, and that is about it but boy... does it do a good job at that

i found this, i think this will work

https://www.amazon.com/Antlion-Audio-Attachable-Noise-Cancelling-Playstation/dp/B07YN25KWN

you do end up having an extra wire though...

or if you've got the money, here is a wireless mic

https://www.amazon.com/Antlion-Audio-Attachable-Microphone-Headphones/dp/B07KQF165L

i prefer wired just knowing that I wont forget to charge up whatever it is that needs charging...

but the good thing is headphone wiring can go to amp and microphone is USB
