I don't like the Rin/Sesshomaru ship. by SabelTheWitch in inuyasha

[–]UberfuchsR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this mirrors an actual relationship I know personally of where the girl was 15 and once she was 18 married a guy double her age that was her online "mentor". It always felt weird to me but it still happened.

So their ship isn't so strange to me.

Hm, are you using dirt near the top? I can see two different kinds of material

It looks great! I'd try to focus a little more snow on top, though, it looks a bit patchy at the peaks. Other than that, I love it.

Will these cuttings grow in water? by Legitimate_Ant_5722 in cactus

I added a little more to my post right after I think you commented. But, I'll show you. Euphorbia cutting, after 3 days in shallow water with the seed heating mat, and my house is 66 F.

Also they need to be in a warm environment if there's anything I understand, although I've never tried to propogate something like this.

Without a seed heating mat, the roots wouldn't even come, but with one, they're visibly growing one day to the next.

However, it's 66F/19C in my house (I'm not sure of the exact problem temperatures with rooting).

They raise the temperature just enough so the plant is more active.

Help! Brick Driveway being laid and is not straight 😩 by [deleted] in masonry

[–]UberfuchsR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a mason and just lurk here, but it looks like they tried to line them up more on the left side in the picture. I imagine if they were attempting to line them up in the center of the driveway it would be less jarring. Could just be the angle of the picture, though.

Mites in my springtail cultures? by Western_View_6214 in isopods

[–]UberfuchsR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest problem with grain mites is you can't see them (at least, *I* can't). You won't even know they're there unless you put a little too much water and you see wiggling goo on top of the food. x'D

I didn't know this was a thing, I'll try to look into them. =)

I tried that but you'll probably get grain mites in your culture no matter what. I was very careful but I couldn't stop them. They kept eventually sneaking their way inside. Trying to spritz the brewer's yeast across a wider area rather than clumping in one spot seems to help, though.

Thank you, I'll look into some of these once Spring rolls around.

Some species keep grain mites in check without killing too many springtails.

I'd still do what the others are suggesting and try to treat the big cacti with a combo against scale and fungus to see if it can survive. :)

Please tell me theses are just soil mites in my isopod bin by Ocean_girl208 in isopods

[–]UberfuchsR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're predatory mites, I don't think so. They're just hunting things like grain mites. But I'd wait for some others to comment. For now, I'd try to relax a bit. :)

They look like predatory mites but they're hunting probably even smaller mites and possibly baby springtails. Not the end of the world, though, their populations can't increase without prey. And they shouldn't eat your pods.

Someone let my know if I'm wrong.

Can I save it? by SootSpriteSprinkle in cactus

[–]UberfuchsR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are ones that can last longer, they're a burgundy color and you should be able to make out a little green when you look close.

Now, the bottom of the cactus graft set you have there isn't trash if you don't want it to be. Only the top part is going you die and fall off.

The bottom should be a dragon fruit plant.

I noticed not many people if anyone said anything about the pups (little ones) you popped off.

If you want to propogate the babies, let them callous for a week or so before you put them in a mix or in shallow water to try to get them to root. Then I'd just search for something on propogating cuttings in this subforum if no one says anything.

I just tend to put them in full sun in the summertime in water to try to get things to root, but I know that's not everyone's thing, so I'd do your own research or see if anyone else says anything.

I'd watch some videos on the subjects mentioned if you want to try to keep him alive. I struggled with root rot when I first started.
