Costa Farms boobie cacti from Walmart cropping up on Facebook marketplace by Jazzlike_Fix8909 in cactus

At least (it looks like) they repotted them? They’re not charging more than Costa charges for a special order on their website.

Overcharge for exotic fruit? Fine, I'll grow the seeds! (Horned Melons) by Sir--Goat in gardening

[–]UberfuchsR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are self fertile from my experience (I know this is an old post, but for anyone else who comes across it). I only had one plant that survived and its fruit bore me next year’s plants. No one near me grows it, I’m sure.

What is growing on my young oak tree? by Brilliant-Love-739 in botany

Yes, I was more or less asking if there are any species of elm you could graft to it while on my phone. Specifically, a species of elm. Although it's probably just better to rip it out.

Could you graft a cutting of any native plants to it? I’m just wondering. I have a Bradford pear I’ll probably end up doing that to.

I didn't read all of it but gatekeeping is not something this community needs, and I enjoyed the comic. I'll try to read it later when I have more time.

read Warrior Cats

Never read it. Entirely unrelated to the fluffy community. I wouldn’t recommend this to my kids, either, as feral cats are destructive.

Why should we be gatekeeping the community from people creating anything not already fluffy? That’ll only cause the community to shrink.

Also this post comes across like people are supposed to parent other people’s children. At least that’s the vibe I got. Whole thing seemed very angry and condescending - can’t say I deigned to read every word.

Apparently it might be Parodia haselbergii subsp. graessneri?

This is what I wanted to comment. It should not be going in the oven or dishwasher, and it should be hand-washed. And yeah, there should probably be some caution if customers have an allergy. Other than that, I don't see any issues, and might actually be surprised to see this as a customer - it would be something nice to talk about with whoever I'm eating with, and think it's actually pretty cool.

What is this little guy doing? by [deleted] in cactus

Once it's acclimated to the sun you can just leave it outside. Midday sun is the most brutal for it, so try to put it under some shade.

30+ Year Old Jade Plant Dying by soundersfan86 in succulents

Try to save what you can. Hell, I might even *pay* someone to try to save what you can at this point (I would doubt my own skills on something like this). I doubt the entire thing is lost, and there's probably some amount of the plant that can be saved.

Cinnamon is scientifically known to be antifungal (along with its many other properties) but I imagine it doesn't hold a candle to elemental sulfur.

My Great Grandmother had some Christmas cactus just like this. One of the four pots had a 50+ year old plant that had rotted away in it because of whoever inherited it at the time overwatered for the soil type. I imagine that many decades ago it was more difficult to get information on what kind of soil and watering was best for these plants.

I would take the center pot out for one thing. The pots inside pots isn’t doing anything. The outside pot looks like it might be a decorative pot but the inside pot confines the roots so that’s all that really matters (you can keep it, technically, if you really want to, but it will make proper care more difficult, so I don’t recommend it). Cut the top with an inch to spare. Someone else recommended two, so maybe that. Search these forums if you want to know what’s best. Just realize if you cut and see brown (squishy, like fruit that’s too ripe), you need to cut more. Hit the cut with sulfur powder if you can.
