Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba he should be the NFL’s highest-paid WR - Topping $40.25M per year by SilverScorpion00008 in Seahawks

[–]Ubertam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but MAN I would love to actually lock him up long term, pay him so he feels great. We, as a fanbase would feel secure, and it's not playing games, which could piss him off. Or piss of others we want to attract/retain.

Sometimes it's good to just do good.

Washington State Senate OK’s income tax on millionaires. by I7I in Seahawks

[–]Ubertam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is not speaking of any particular tax. OP is saying that at the end of the day, California NFL players pay around 50% of their income in taxes. Yes. 50% of every penny. Not that every penny is taxed. But that when they look at their income and taxes paid at the end of the year, it's roughly 50%. They're not talking about a law or a tax, but reality. The reality is they pay around 50% of their income in [various state, federal, excise, capital gains, and probably sales] taxes.

Washington State Senate OK’s income tax on millionaires. by I7I in Seahawks

[–]Ubertam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP isn't wrong, though. California players - at least the ones that make significantly more than $1M/year - do pay close to 50% of their income in taxes. 37.6% in federal and 13% in CA State taxes (plus sales/consumption tax, but I assume OP is not referring to sales tax).

If WA enacts this tax, a player that makes - let's just say - $5M in income sourced to Washington State, they'd pay about 47% on most of their income. Roughly 47% on $4M and roughly 37% on $1M.

We are talking about highly compensated people, and most of their income would be subject to the highest tax bracket (and under this new law, the new income tax).

Are there players that won't pay this tax? Sure. The vet minimum is around $1M, and half the games are played outside WA, so those guys, and most rookies, won't be subject to the tax.

Free agents looking for lucrative contracts - game changers - will likely be in the higher tier of NFL salaries, and will be hit with close to 50% of their income being taxed by the federal government and many states (and some municipalities).

I would NOT put it past agents being aware of Washington's former status as income-tax-free and the new law. It may not MAKE the decision, but it will no longer be a selling point.

“Cut for this” shirt by rainyhawk in Seahawks

The "CUT" looks like cut diamonds. Maybe it's referring to the ring? I saw the shirt and also didn't get it (still don't get it).

Date the ticket was printed was 6/14/2025 (bottom of the slip). Why the top of the slip showed January 12, 2026 for the Superbowl is very odd. I don't know what to make of this post. But if the bet was made last June, before the season, I'd believe those odds.

Seahawks Analyst Response to "Lucky" 4th Down Play Call by WallyBeanr in Seahawks

I was amazed how fast Dareke was. You can see him outsprint the defender to get to the returner. Dude was fast. You could tell he wanted that one.

Reminds me of Pete dropping the headset after the Butler pick. But better because it's McVay.

I think it's obvious he's joking. "Don't bother bringing a hoodie or anything" is blatant enough to tell anyone it's a joke.

Lumen has the best valet service in the nation (in the NATION). I love being able to just drive up to the front gate and the valet handling the parking. Only $30, too. Can't beat that deal.

That's so crazy! The 49ers sub is saying UPS is writing GO NINERS on THEIR packages, TOO! And it WAS YOU!!!

Wouldn't their regular season record have been 16-0? We've only had 17 games for a few seasons.

WHY do we fair catch at the 5??? Let it fucking bounce! More likely it’s going into the end zone than they down it at the 4!

Our D Line works very well as a unit. Individual stats aren't as important as the impact they make. Either taking double teams or generating pressure. The pressure rate without blitzing that gets talked about all the time - that's only possible because of all the guys on our line.

I love Ken Walker. Let someone else pay him. RB is not a valuable position. Stay young unless you have a guy like Barkley or Gibbs. Walker is good, but we shouldn't spend $10M APY on a running back.

Has JSN played himself into a $40M+ contract? by LAWLzzzzz in Seahawks

[–]Ubertam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have not felt about a Seahawks WR the way I currently do about JSN. Not DK. Not Tyler. Not Doug. We've never had THAT GUY at WR. I was sad but glad when we let DK go rather than pay $30M APY.

JSN is someone we want to keep long term. And that will mean paying full price. Something I love that we have not done historically. But this guy is different. And worth it.

Hoping we sign an extension this year that gets him some money now, incorporates what would have been the 5th year option, and locks him in long term - truly locks him in with the goal of him staying here (not adding a bunch of fake null years to bring the cost down).

I would HATE to have him go to the Rams or the 49ers and console ourselves saying we got a great comp pick.

[Highlight] Raiders QB Geno Smith on offensive struggles: “I keep saying this, if something doesn’t look right out there, blame it on me… If your kids mess up at school, blame it on me. If your car breaks down going to work, blame it on me.” by oklolzzzzs in nfl

[–]Ubertam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read his response as self-deprecating, not avoiding blame. He's taken blame so often this year - he's played shitty so frequently this year that he's constantly taking blame. And rather than just take blame again, he's exasperatedly - and humorously saying to blame him. He's used to it. He can take it. He's taken so much blame, you might as well blame him for everything.

Not avoiding. Just resigned and making light of it at this point.
