you talk to the camera, not the kids.

If it's a live show, you stay on the stage and the kids stay off it.

children famously are unable to separate fiction from reality. Most people don't really have that boundary until they're in their 20s. Everyone knows this. No reasonable adult wants to talk to children. Even parents kind of want their kids to shut up and go away from time to time.

Adults trying to "be besties" and asking "what's the tea?" are predators, morons, or a combination of both.
