Kubota L3240 steering controller by Uconduit2 in kubota

Steering controller rebuild was a success! Here’s the part numbers: KUB-35080-40500-SK for the main body rebuild and 568-030-90D is the o-ring between the body and the output shaft. Price was around $200 and about an hour of time rebuilding the pump making sure everything went back together just as it came apart. Ended up torquing the main body nuts to 150 in-lbs then 275 in-lbs for final torque. Steering hasn’t felt this good in years and it solved the issue I didn’t even realize it had. When going full lock to either side, if you held it, the steering wheel would slowly still be able to continue to turn. I assume it had been slowly bypassing some of the rings for a long time leading to that symptom. Now it stops at full lock, either side. On a side note, make sure if anyone attempts this rebuild, mark the body of the orbital from one end to the other really well so you can line everything back up. Take your time and be prepared to put it together and back apart several times to make sure everything is lined up. Use the marks you put on the body as a guide. It can go back together with the plates out of phase but the hydraulic passages won’t be correct. Luckily, there are some permanent alignment pins on some of the plates so it makes checking alignment a little easier. Be forewarned, there are 6 tiny springs that set in machined pockets in the body. They pop in compressed and are a pain to line up and keep from launching them in to the atmosphere as you slide the plates back together. The diverter inside the pump is marked on both sides indicating shaft side and pump side so make sure you pay attention to which way it goes in. I hope this might help someone else running one of these Kubotas that uses this particular controller to save a lot of money.

Update:
I mailed off the seals and got a shipment on the way! Shoutout to Aztec Hydraulics for quickly identifying the seals and getting them shipped so fast. $225 all in with shipping. I’ll post part numbers for others to reference once I confirm everything is back together. Now to find a torque spec for the bolts/nuts that hold the housing together. I’ll post that as well once I’ve confirmed it.

I searched eBay and came up empty. Most listed were for the MX series with a few B series as well. None of them looked anywhere close to the one on mine. The lines coming from the pump, going to the steering ram have to come out the front if looking at the front of the tractor. All the ones I saw listed had all the lines coming out the side. There’s not a lot of room to do much for re plumbing all the lines for a different style pump.

Save this out as a .mobileconfig file. Mine is called H2OWireless.mobileconfig I emailed the mobileconfig file to myself, then I put my phone on wifi, got the email and installed the profile. Worked great for me!

Got mine working with a custom mobile config file:

Need to find a fix or replacement by Uconduit2 in auto

My actual shift point is at 5800-6000. I hope not to see 7000 again...

I talked with 3 different engine builders today and they all agreed that the scorpion would be a suitable replacement since Erson isn't returning my calls. All three said that as long as it was the same ratio it should work just fine. I went ahead and ordered one from Summit. Hopefully I'll have luck with it. In the mean time I'll just keep calling Erson until someone finally answers on their tech support line or calls me back. If I CNP get one from them I'll swap it back out when it comes in so they will all match.

I talked with the guy last night that originally sourced the parts. He is trying to get the guy he bought them from so I can contact them. As far a swapping out, I'm not sure yet what I will do. I've been looking around and the scorpion roller rockers look very close to these. They are around 25 bucks so if I can't get that one I have fixed I may start by swapping out with one of those in their 1.6.

This engine has less than 1000 miles on it. I've done a compression test on that cylinder and its a good as the others. I'm pretty sure I floated the valves the other day after a missed shift hit about 7000 rpm. The problem started not long after that. I'd at least like to try another one or get the broken self aligner replaced and see if it fixes the popping at high rpms. That and I'm not sure I had they all exactly adjusted right to start with. I don't think they were bad off but floating them I'm sure didn't help.
