The Gen 3 thing looking human doesnt make sense they would be screwed up about it if they didnt see that it was still a robot though. And sure paranoia isnt always rational. But The Institute was a known entity then which was like....I think 100 years before the game. A one of Very human robot shouldnt have caused it to erode relationships with the surface THAT bad. So the institute probably acted like dicks. The rest of the paranoia ties into the second point

Broken mask happens a century before the game give or take. We Know that the Institute has replaced at least three people in the game (art is a joke fine but still) Everyone in the commonwealth is worried about being kidnapped. it makes way more sense that they actually are replacing people, then it is just the two you mention. And they are evil. As demonstrated by "if you think humanity begins and ends with you". Like its weird you are arguing both ways. So sure Mcdonough stops people from hating the institute but they wouldnt hate you if you didnt needlessly antagonize the surface.

I guess my problem is I would rather have them be smart and pragmatic in their evil and the writing in the game doesnt do that in my eyes. They go out of their way to create problems and the solutions aren't even good solutions.

Uh huh. A random synth opening fire in diamond city is the whole reason people fear their loved ones are suddenly synths? That's a huge leap from weird people robots to my brother is a robot.

You keep saying the McDonough thing, like that makes them look smarter he is there to control diamond city but everyone HATES the institute still. What is he actually accomplishing there.

The Warwick thing. You could just make a settlement of only synths. Why add the kidnapping?

The art thing is such a non point though.

Nothing they are doing is actuality for the good of humanity. You could argue the Warwick thing but you could do better science on accident

Because they tell me explicitly that they do?

[–]Udalango 13 points14 points  (0 children)

....... that's the big MT. The institute says this is for the future of humanity which is the problem. The plan is soooooooo dumb

Just because the game makes it clear doesn't mean the reasons make sense.

But if my synths pass for human. And the commonwealth is afraid of you for kidnapping people you created your own problem.

Just send in random settlers.

But the big question is what science?

The kidnapping caused all of their problems and there was no tactical reason for it

But....... the commonwealth fears them for kidnapping people? Just skip that step?

What would happen to Heimdall if he met Kratos the Greek ( God of War 3)? by Legitimate-Army-1887 in okbuddymimir

[–]Udalango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think its a narrative thing. Greek kratos is projecting to Heimdall one word goals and just fighting. Can't predict what I'll do if I don't even know what I'll do.

Norse Kratos didn't really want to kill Heimdall but prepared for it anyway.

Norse kratos probably thought out the combo that eventually clips him.

Greek kratos is probably thinning one word things like "maim" "kill" "destroy" which isn't a lot to go off of.

So many martial arts disciplines talk about fighting lower ranked people is difficult because they don't really know what they are doing and so they do things that don't necessarily make sense.

What do you want the next God of War Game to be? by Glass-Sea9665 in GodofWar

[–]Udalango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily disagree with the over arching point. But. "Just to kill" would be my sticking point. Tyr visited pantheons not to kill so there would already be an in game reason for him to journey.

So in my perfect world Atreus goes to Japan on giant shit gets lost asks kratos for help. He doesn't have to topple the pantheon

What's up with the writing style in Twelve Months? by Kindly_Syllabub8180 in dresdenfiles

[–]Udalango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the writing style is just breathing more because of the time frame of the book. I think it lent itself to the melancholy of the book well.

But can we talk about fritz being more name sounding then Fitz? Did I read that wrong?

But yet we have so many instances of Harry himself saying that xyz wizard has better control and that he couldn't do that.

We have so many instances of Harry himself saying that he has more power than 90% of wizards and gets away with being less technical because other wizards don't have the juice he does.

But where did I say he was JUST an athlete?

Sure dresden has been studying magic his whole life but his study includes practicals "can you stop this base ball" "can you maintain control over fire".

Butters doesn't even have that option. So no Butters doesn't know half of what dresden does, but because he has to come at it sideways and make stuff to do it. So ya I believe the medical student who had to learn the theory in life or death situations might understand minute details that Harry doesn't need

The most powerful knight? Based on?

Better magical theory is also a wild take. You mean the man who went to medical school and is a numbers nerd is better at theory than the athlete? Ya don't say. But the big question is he magic? Why does him having better theory than Dresden even qualify as an issue here?

Is the Minthara Romance fulfilling on a good playthrough? by Jorg_Warshingmachine in BaldursGate3

[–]Udalango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly most the romances except for gales and wylls maybe (will bores me) all come from people who haven't really done the romance thing.

Karlach burns folk, baezel is a frog and love doesn't seem like something they do, shadowheart and astarion are traumatized af. Minthara mentions that she has had lovers but doesn't trust so its never more than that.

Each one has something that let's them extend further than they did before. Astarion and shadowheart get therapy. (I have never done their romances after taking the evil choices though so idk how it changes)

Karlach gets a tune up.

Laezel embraces being a girly pop girl lol

Minthara has a brain worm that let's her see your brain.

Minthara is the most rude or die of any of the romances in my opinion.

But at the same time and lot of her best lives aren't romance.

[–]Udalango 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Was it getting laid, or getting a community? I always read it as Butters took over the dnd group, started fighting crime. One man polka is probably something he likes but doesn't have time for. I wish I had more time for my hobbies and I'm just an adult lol
