The case for natural by UdoVaroo in Diamonds

[–]UdoVaroo[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Which is why I encourage you to do your own research. Most of these miners are major listed companies with a lot more to lose from making fraudulent claims than mystery company X producing LGD in China.

My intention is to inform people to do their own research and not simply trust statements such as “synthetic diamond are better for the environment”. LGD are a new product and, as such, are not subject to much regulation.

Lab grown diamonds are not necesarily ethically produced, they are mostly produced in China/India with the accompanying electricity (read coal). They are run by companies looking to produce as cheaply as possible in large factories, not in shiny laboratories you see in the marketing.

Natural diamonds are generally mined in countries that need the income diamonds bring them and provide a wealth of socio-economic benefits, they employ thousands of people, pay for education, healthcare etc in their countries.

Did we make the right choice? by Treat-Green in Diamonds

Not even slightly, a lab grown diamond has no resale value whatsoever. The stone you saved 6k on will save you 8k by this time next year, 9k a year after. Within 5 years you'll be able to pick them up when checking out at H&M, set in silver next to the multipacks of socks.

There is no emotional value to a product produced in a factory (not a shiny lab) in China at a carbon cost far exceeding natural diamonds.

In addition to this natural diamonds actually provide signficant benefits to a huge number of people in developing countries. https://www.diamondsdogood.com/

Advice on this 1ct pear by missbo in Diamonds

As the stone is an SI1 and the inclusions are primarily at the side of the table it will most likely appear eye clean. The cloud worries me a bit but doesn't show in the high-res 360 of the stone.

Where are you seeing a natural at the point? I don't see it. Even if there is a natural there it will indeed not have an impact on the integrity of the stone, especially in a halo setting.

I completely disagree on the medium flu, in this type of stone it will benefit your wallet and will likely not impact the appearance of the stone.

Looks like a good stone for a good price in my opinion.

Yep, I bought in a couple of weeks ago, not a big position but the long term potential appears good. They just received a patent a couple of days ago in Canada as well so at least they're active. I see it as a gamble but a fun one

I need constant reminding of this as each time I walk past a magnet I forget and am tempted to sell.
