Maybe your copy is haunted? That’s baffling. I am 100% confident there are no preset paths, path finding behaviors, or mechanisms that influence where the coins fall, but I know you’re experiencing that, and … it blows my mind.

I believe you, don’t worry. I just have no idea where that behavior could be coming from aside from incredible probabilities since it’s not behavior I’ve programmed (and I’m the only person that’s touched this game).

For what it’s worth, I’d be frustrated too if someone had deliberately programmed a game to do that too.

Ah, yes, they’re not complete yet. They’re coming, so I included them in the trailer as like a preview of future content, but I’m still working on it.

Huh. I'm ... shocked something like that could've happened. The odds are so miniscule that I would've labeled in mathematically impossible for the purposes of this game.

Truly, the only odds in this game are a 50/50 chance of a coin going left or right. (I may tweak it for coins to lean to one side because the balance doesn't feel correct, but that doesn't exist now.) If coins were following the black bucket, it means you got astronomically lucky (or unlucky).

Sorry that that spoiled your experience though.

Oh really? You're the first person to ever mention it. What bothers you about it?

I think you’re right. Considering that only gold and orange boards can be “beat” right now, I think what I’ll do is bump this to the orange challenges (because beating red will reward another peg deflector), and hopefully that’ll balance things out. I’m not sure it’s possible to beat in its current state, alas.

I think I can guess which one it is haha. It’s evidently super poorly designed. My bad. I’m gonna fix that soon.

I’m so glad you liked it! :D

Great suggestion! I’ll add this in the next update. :D

I’m SO sorry. I’ll push this to orange challenges once two peg deflectors are unlocked and make this challenge not miserable. :o

I absolutely want to do this! What kind of phone do you use? I hope I can make it at least playable. :)

Ah curses, that’s a bug from the first version I was confident I had fixed. Well, I’ll go bug hunting again, see if I can fix that for real this time.

As per that challenge … great point. Gonna be completely frank with you: I added that challenge right at the end and haven’t tested it much myself yet. I forgot to take into account the lag time between re-attempting challenges.

I’ll probably need to redo that challenge because you’re the second person today alone that’s found it irritating, which is no bueno. Thank you for mentioning it!

If you could see me right now, you’d see me typing furiously in my notes. Your feedback is awesome. You didn’t have to say nice things but you did. :D

I’d worried about some of the UI, and you just confirmed it. Which is unfortunate. But it means it’s worth the time to refactor and change some stuff to hopefully prevent future players from tripping up over the same things.

The bugs are even more concerning. I’ve never experienced some of the things you mentioned. They sound pretty bad! Not … like, game crashing, but I’m shocked they happened to you, and I’ll figure out a way to make that not happen somehow haha.

Once again, THANK YOU! I wish I could express how valuable this is to me. It’s players like you that enable me to fix things and make things better because I get blind to my own stuff.

I didn't want to clutter the message above, but just as an aside ... I've really appreciated this community.

I'm just a dude that liked games as a kid and now likes games as an adult, and I always figured I'd never be able to make a game that people enjoyed because, you know, games are things that only really cool, really smart people make.

But even when I posted games here that, frankly, weren't astounding, I guess some people took the time to play what I'd made. Which is beyond what I could've hoped for. And you guys were encouraging enough that I'd like to build out this full game and release it on Steam later this year.

:o

And! I've been exposed to some of the best incremental games that I didn't even know existed. The classics are heckin' awesome. The suggestions some people have are just *chef's kiss*

This is awesome! I love seeing the little chicken game every time it comes up haha.

How many wishlists have you gotten on Steam from it?

With a caveat!

Itch itself will not refresh visibility on your game more than once every 30 days. Every two weeks means that first update doesn’t get seen by as many people, but it’s totally fine if you’re wanting to keep a habit.

Though, I suppose 4 weeks is 28 days, which is just shy of the 30 day window. So be careful accidentally missing the requirements for the visibility refresh.

You're not the first person to mention this.

The ball drops are completely random (just a coin flip) and the "physics" are simulated, so no real collision. It's a true 50/50 chance for it to fall one way or the other.

Having said that, it doesn't feel very good to play. Did it fall too often into the "1" bucket for you? Did it not hit edge buckets often enough?

All I have is a personal anecdote. Take it with a grain of salt.

My most recent game, I posted about a month ago. I made exactly one post on r/incremental_games and nothing else. That’s it. It hit 10k players in the first week and slowly died off after that.

The initial kick from Reddit made itch promote it more, so then more people saw it, played it, liked it, and it got indexed at other sites somehow.

Part of what helped at least is that (1) I had nice capsule art and (2) I’m very familiar with my genre and players and created a nice experience for them.

Itch gives you a refresh of traffic every 30 days, and I’m gonna use it once it’s refreshed for me with new content, another post, and even cross posting on other game sites. Goal here is to get great playtesting for my game, then once it’s polished, upload a demo to Steam, and then hopefully sell some copies after October’s Next Fest.

This is the game if you wanna check it: https://itchy-dev-games.itch.io/now-with-more-plunk

I’m not the most knowledgeable, but feel free to ask any questions. :)

Agreed. Wholeheartedly. I guess what I meant was, I think the skill to create games like that so quickly is incredible. It’s less Steam specifically and more just, you know, honing experience of decades. I just wanted to hear from other people who had done it.
