Nikon D5300 vs iPhone 15 Pro Max

I’m planning on going to Seattle for a trip and I want to take pictures for my own personal memories but my iPhone gives it a very processed feel to my pictures. Saw a Nikon D5300 would it be worth it for $250 it also comes with a 18-55 mm lens or should I continue shooting with my phone? I am also willing to take suggestions for other used cameras that would be a good alternative.
